This ones for all my fellow BNHA fans.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term "Mary Sue", it's basically a term used for extremely overpowered characters. I'm talking smartest person of all time, 1,000 quirks, and could literally beat AFO with a single finger. Y/ns who are basically gods.
These Y/ns usually have some kind of tragic backstory (their parents are either dead, abusive, or both). They're usually female (again) and they're "so beautiful" with their "perfect everything" and make all the guys/gals/nonbinary pals fall for them. They're almost always heroes (at least from my expericence) who are just so fucking pure-hearted it makes me want to gag.
Like, why can't they just have a normal power/life/backstory? I get that the main character is supposed to stand out. But it doesn't have to be "make them as OP as possible". Small things are good. One or two things that are different are good as well. Also, you know that (I'm pretty sure) all quirks have weaknesses.
For example, my 2nd Gen BNHA OC, Kago. Her quirk is called Pyromania, and it's like Endeavor's. Given the right circumstances, she can become very deadly very quickly. But that doesn't mean she's all-powerful. She has weaknesses. If she over-uses her quirk, she'll overheat and become weaker, and could possibly even cause permanent damage to herself. The temperature of the environment around her is also a factor. If it gets too cold, her flames are about as useful as a shit-flavored lollipop.
And then we have Y FUCKING N over here who's basically GOD, wiping out even the most powerful villains with an EYELASH FLUTTER!!
