Okay, so we all know that Y/n is a little crybaby. Most likely a teenage girl who needs to be introduced to the word eyes and songs other than Fight Song and whose backstory is so tragic that it's become expected at this point. But what else haven't I covered yet...?
Oh, yeah, she's also BULLIED!
What are these authors thinking, like- If you're trying to spread awareness about bullying then do it properly. Give an actual reason for the bullying to be taking place. Make the character relatable (this is supposed to be the READER for crying out loud), make the audience feel sympathy for them!
Don't just say that Y/n is bullied because she's "nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrLs" because she acts like every middle school girl in my town! Don't make her so unbelievably annoying and extra that everyone in the audience is like "no wonder this girl's bullied, I'd bully her too!" And that's coming from someone who's part of the LGBTQ+, you all KNOW how extra we are!
And who in the FUCK bullies someone because they LIKE THEM??! I'm talking to YOU, xReader authors! You HONESTLY THINK that PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY ABUSING SOMEONE is going to make them fall IN LOVE with you?! Like, sIR- That is STOCKHOLM SYNDROME! That's fucking GASLIGHTING! That is ABUSE!!
Listen, I understand being an asshole to your partner(s) in a playful way. My crush and I joke around and tease each other all the time. And I'm not saying that the Enemies/Rivals (to Friends) to Lovers trope is bad, either.
But Y/n could be practically beaten to death by this person and still be like "But we're sOuLmAtEs 🥺🥺🥺"
Like- Y/n, PLEASE just... Cease.
