"Yeah, they wanted to inform me that they've decided to initiate a Chilton prom. They had a meeting in which many students and parents told them that they wanted the kids to have the full high school experience, which of course, included prom. They've decided that they want all their old students, who didn't get a chance to have a prom, to have one. So they're doing it. All the years will be divided, and our prom is gonna be Saturday. They're gonna send out proper invites by tomorrow. It's like an early alumni party or something. I'm so nervous, Rory I have to go but who will I bring? I'm so glad you told me about Tristan. He'll probably get an invite too, and then I can ask him to go with me? I don't know why he would agree to that but I'll make him." Paris explained, pacing while Rory stood there, frozen, taking in all the information.
"Prom?" Rory asked, her eyes wide.
"Yup. That's what they said." Paris confirmed.
"Ok, ok, we don't have to bring dates though. I mean we can just go solo can't we?" she asked, on her way to the level of panic Paris was experiencing.
"Of course we can go solo Rory, it's not like this is our first and only chance at prom, and there won't be people that we went to high school with, judging the fact that we couldn't find dates to prom and went solo!" Paris shouted.
"Ok ok, we are Yale students. We got into an ivy leagues for god's sake! We can find dates!" Hopefully. Rory said, trying to hold on to her sanity.
"Yeah, yeah that's right" Paris said, starting to calm down. "We can find dates."
"And dresses." Rory added. "We need dresses, and dates and we need... we need to make a list of things that we need!" Rory said, walking into her room to get pens and legal pads. "Ok let's get started." she said, sitting down on their couch as Paris did the same. "What's the first thing we need?"
"Um... first of all, we need to decide who we are going with... then we can coordinate with them and find our dresses and figure out our rides, and whether we wanna go to a hotel or like come back to the dorms or something." Paris told her, and Rory started noting everything down on the yellow lined paper, completely focused.
"Ok so, dates are what were starting from then?" she asked and Paris nodded her head. "Ok, do we have any options? Who would be willing to take two strangers to their high school prom... two years late?" she asked.
"Someone who needed a date themselves." Paris said and Rory raised her eyebrows in question. "Tristan." she said. "I mean think about it. You two met again, I'm guessing you have his number or something so you can call him and ask. And even though he didn't stay till graduation, I'm guessing he's gonna get an invite too. And just imagine the looks on people's faces when we, the nerdy girls, show up with the King of Chilton. " Paris suggested, while Rory listened with her face scrunched up.
"Ok, I'll call him... right after I call my mom, because I seriously need to tell her about this or else she's gonna show up there and hijack the whole event." she said, and started getting up.
"Ok, you do that." Paris said getting up herself. "We can do this, we're gonna go to the prom." she said, smiling and nodding to herself.
"Yes we can. I'll go call my mom, and then Tristan. Can you please try to clean all of this up. Marty called when I was on my way, and he's coming over soon. I'd rather he doesn't walk into this. " she said, gesturing to the clothes covering the entire dorm.
