It took me a while to muster up the courage to start looking around. Two people I had been casually talking with just hours ago were dead now. Nothing but lifeless corpses sprawled out on the floor. It was a hard thing to contemplate, and a part of me just wanted to run away from it all.

But the desire to bring justice to whoever murdered Chihiro was too strong. So I forced myself to search with the others.

The first thing I was met with when reentering the library was Makoto, Sakura, and Asahina, who were searching near the body. The others were probably searching elsewhere, trying to find more hidden clues. Or they had already gathered all the information they needed here.

Makoto, who was crouched down by a vent to the right of Chihiro's body, looked up once I entered the room.

"Blair..." He said sort of awkwardly. He stood up and walked over to me. "Are you sure you're okay with searching here? I'm sure there are clues somewhere else you can help the others look for. Like in Chihiro's room, or-"

"I'm fine Makoto." I lied, reassuring him. "I want to search here. If I'm going to find the bastard that killed my friend, I'm going to have to get to the root of the investigation."

"Wait. Find out? So... you don't believe Leon killed her."

I rubbed the back of my neck. "Well... I do suspect him. But there are a lot of weird situations and motivations in the world. It's possible he could be telling the truth. You can't just assume things from what you see at first glance. That's why I want to look into this further before I point any fingers," I thought back to the other night when Leon ran from Sayaka's room, the same golden sword everyone saw him with a few minutes ago in hand.

From what I saw that night, I understood how he would be paranoid. Sure, carrying a sword around in plain sight when the rest of us were all awake may not have been the brightest idea, but I never took Leon to be very sharp.

Makoto didn't look entirely convinced, but his expression was slightly less concerned. "Ah. I suppose that makes sense... But if you need help, I'll be here," he offered, giving me a small smile.

I returned the gesture, then let out a breath. Alright Blair. If you're going to solve this case, you're going to have to start with the most important piece of evidence. The body.

Holding my breath, I forced myself to open my eyes and look at the corpse.

Chihiro's skin was a paper white, the dark red color of her blood clashing with it. She was on her side, her arms sprawled out akwardly. Thankfully I couldn't see her face from where I was standing, but I could still imagine lifeless glaze in her irises. However, what I noticed now was that all that blood soaked in the carpet around her came from a nasty dent in the girl's skull. It was about as big as a golf ball, the dried blood from it matting her hair.

"A blow to the head. Despicable." I tensed at the sound of a low voice behind me, and wiped around to find Sakura staring at the body with a look that was either empathy, sadness, or pure rage. It was hard to tell with her. But what surprised me even more was the bloody hammer the girl was holding.

Sakura seemed to notice my shock, since she met my gaze and explained. "The Monokuma file said this was the murder weapon. I figured I'd move it out of respect."

I lowered my shoulders and smiled. Not only because that was a very nice gesture, but also because I appreciated the fact that Sakura looked me directly in the eye when she said that. Everyone had been looking at me with this pitying look ever since the incident only a few minutes ago, and I appreciated that Sakura didn't try to give me any sympathy. Because sympathy wouldn't change what already happened.
