People were going about their day as normal on this sunny Monday morning. The sound of cars whizzing by filled the air and crowds of people making their way to work and shopping made up Tokyo, Japan. For most, it was a normal day, nothing too exciting or eventful happening, just the flow of life taking them away.
Well, that was different for Blair Hiriyama, who, as an annoyed honk directed right at her joined the chorus of other impatient drivers, swiveled her rusty rent-out bike out of the car's way.
"Sorry!" She yelled behind her as she sped her bike down the street. She was speeding as fast as the old bike could take her without the brakes getting jammed or a bolt popping out of place.
The reason she was practically flooring it was because-you guessed it! She was late. Yeah, Blair had a nasty habit of not reading into things when given instructions. And she meant that literally. The freckled girl was having a nice, quiet morning eating her breakfast in peace. Until Shi-Shu pointed out something in small print at the bottom of Blair's invite to Hope's Peak, which she had brought with her and hung on the fridge of their hotel room. The print stated that participants had to be at least twenty minutes early or they would be disqualified. Yeah, so Blair's morning turned into more of a willing-to-shove-small-children-out-of-the-way-to-get-there kind of morning.
And just as she was out the door she realized that she didn't have a method of transportation. So, annoyed with herself, she swung by a local bike-rental store, just happened to shove a small child, and rented out the cheapest bike they had.
Now, back to the present, our girl was just rounding a corner that sent her on the street where Hope's Peak Academy was located.
Once her eyes locked onto her destination, Blair had to admit that the building was so much more stunning and intimidating in person than it was in photo form.
The school was massive, towering above everything in its wake. You couldn't miss it, with it's stone exterior that was so shiny it didn't look stone at all, and the school emblem desolated in a haughty way in the front. Behind the building was the Academy's campgrounds, which had the reserve course, testing areas, buildings with extra supplies, and lots more.
In her panic, it didn't take Blair long to shake herself out of her dazed mindset as she threw her bike on a bike rake she found nearby and made her way to the exam site.

Thank the heavens that Blair's tardiness was excused. Apparently according to a guy who worked there, the school just added the 20 minutes early rule to make sure everyone got there. But from the pitying look Blair caught in the guy's eyes, she figured that her tardiness would tie into her chances at getting in. Because of course it would.
Blair was told to go to a training room where some of the other participants were. The room was an area where she could warm up before she was called in by the judges. It took some walking around the endless corridors of the exam site to find the room she was supposed to be in. And once she arrived, she got a warm greeting. By a small metal object hurtling straight toward her.
Luckily she was able to dodge in time, letting out a small squeak of surprise. One of the object's sharp ends had embedded itself into the wall, allowing Blair to inspect it closer. It was a shuriken.
Someone ran up to Blair and the shuriken. They were dressed in an all black ninja outfit with only their eyes showing, so Blair couldn't tell their gender or what they looked like. Without uttering a word, they bowed to Blair in an apology before pulling the shuriken out of its place in the wall.
The freckled girl stood at the entrance, her eyes glazing around the room. She was amazed by so many people of different talents. For example, there was one guy who was dancing with hoops made of fire, another guy painting beautiful portraits, and a girl doing handstands and flips so quickly that it gave Blair a headache just looking at her. Blair stared dumbfoundedly at everyone before she collected herself, pumping her fist in determination. These people looked all that, but she just had to prove she was better than them.
