The Long Journey was all set to leave Port Royal any day now, and you were seated on the gunwale with your legs dangling above the calm water. You hadn't left the ship since your trip to find the captain, but the men had been coming and going constantly. In fact, there were quite a few times that you'd been all alone on the ship.It was during those times that you'd investigated every nook and cranny that the Journey had to offer your very bored self. And you meant every. You'd even climbed up to the crow's nest, which had taken quite a bit of concentration and effort on your part.
How Wooyoung and San managed to swing around like monkeys among the rope was simply beyond you.
You had sat up in the crow's nest for hours, just enjoying the sway of the ship. Back in your time, your mother got seasick easily, so you never got to go out on boats no matter how much you begged. At least this ridiculous fever dream had granted you that. You'd gotten so comfortable there that you'd fallen asleep and only woke up when you heard the captain calling your name. He'd come back to the ship to check on you.
"I'm up here!" you called, grabbing the rope to swing yourself down to him, but he was up the rigging before you could even haul yourself over the wall of the crow's nest. "Oh, captain," you breathed; caught off guard by his litheness as he ascended up the ropes.
He chuckled. "What are you doing up here, Red?" You had grimaced at the new nickname, San and Wooyoung had started calling you that after your nose bleeds. Which meant it had only been around for two days at that point, but it had spread like wildfire and everyone was calling you that.
You had just smiled and said, "Not much, just enjoying the view." Then you turned back out to the sea and sighed.
The Captain had joined you in the crow's nest for a little while. Then he left without saying a word and went back to town.
Now, as you swung your legs above the murky depths below, you were waiting for the last few stragglers to get back to the ship. Specifically speaking, Wooyoung and San. They'd gone out in the night to drink and bed women as their last hurrah in Port Royal.
Of course, they didn't tell you that, it was info you'd eavesdropped out of a conversation between Mingi and Yunho. The men here didn't tell you anything that was even remotely past g-rated. The difference between women here and those from your time was astounding.
You were pretty lost in thought when you heard the first sign of something amiss on the ship. You pulled your legs from over the side of the boat and dusted off the breeches that Yeosang had given you that had belonged to their old cabin boy. They were still a bit too long but otherwise they fit nicely. Crossing the main deck to see was the matter, you heard the captain shout in his cabin and something that sounded an awful lot like glass shattering on the floor.
"They should be back by now!"
Another muffled voice sounded from inside but this was one was too soft to understand with the door closed.
You turned away from the captain's cabin and climbed the steps to the sterncastle deck and slipped into the navigation room.
You'd spent a lot of time inside the navigation room in the past few days.Yunho was standing over a map that you'd discussed with him yesterday when you entered. He looked up as you shut the door. "Y/N," he greeted, "have those two come back yet?"
"I'm afraid not. I'm sure we'd be well on our way if they were." You mumbled, going to his side to gaze at the map. "Captain is starting to get antsy."
"He's used to it, I'm sure. This is sort of a regular thing with those two. Although, I don't think they've ever been gone for this long." Yunho murmured, looking out the window. You realized then that his fingers were drumming impatiently. He,too, was growing anxious.
