After finding out that he was a pirate, you spoke very little to your inmate. Nevertheless, his presence was rather comforting as the long days passed. After awhile you seemed to have developed a symbiotic relationship, a non-verbal but still very real friendship vital to keeping your sanity. Finally, in desperation to escape being bored to death, you spoke.

"So...you're a Pirate?" You asked him, twiddling your thumbs as you leaned against the iron bars with your back to him.

"Wait a minute, are you talking to me?" He asked, feigning shock.

"I might be." You said, a smile coming to your face at his obvious sarcasm.

"Then to answer your question: yes, I am a pirate. A pretty damn good pirate if we're getting into specifics." He answered, teasingly.

"From what I'm told, good and pirate don't belong in the same sentence." You retorted, an almost accusatory tone in your voice.

He simply laughed. "Look around you, Y/N. I'm trapped in a cell, you're trapped in a cell. Whatever applies to me, apparently applies to you too. I'm sure the captain's already fabricating some story to have you hanged right beside me."

"He couldn't very well hang me for having standards could he?" You joked, a half smile coming to your face.

Mingi let out a saddened puff of air. "I'm afraid the captain can do whatever he wants on his ship. Captain's word is law, y'know. Whatever he says you did, everyone on board will say the same. If he wants you sent to the gallows, then to the gallows you'll go."

"Gallows?" You asked.

"You know, the hangman's noose." He said, miming a very graphic rendition of a hanging. "You must not get out a lot huh?"

"Right." You sighed. "Actually, if we're going to die Anyways... I should tell you that I'm from-"

"Woah now, who said anything about dying?" He laughed.

"You did...?" You trailed off confused.

"I said they were taking us to be hung. I never said we would ever get that far." He smiled.

You frowned, failing to understand what he was trying to tell you. "I'm sorry, what?"

"We'll be rescued before we even get close to a port." He answered.

"And who's going to be doing this rescuing? Certainly not your pirate crew hm?" You sassed.

"Why yes, darling, that's exactly who's coming for us." He said, not even realizing that it was meant to be a snarky remark.

"But I thought pirates didn't really care for their own." You thought aloud. " If you fall behind, they leave you behind. They're heartless."

"Ouch. But fortunately for us, you couldn't be more wrong. We're thick as thieves." He answered.

You pressed your lips together to keep from laughing. "You are thieves." You reminded him, as soon as you'd stifled the laugh.

"Huh." He said, a silly smile forming on his face. "I guess we are."

For awhile you were quiet, thinking about what might be happening on the ship above you. "Mingi..." You started sadly.

"Hm?"

"Do you think it's day or night?" You asked.

"What?" He yawned.

"Do you think it's daytime or nighttime?" You clarified.

"Do you think it's important?" He asked, you turned your head to see him. He was leaning back against the curve of the wood, his arms supporting his head.
