"I'm fine! Seriously, dammit!"

"Just hold still," my dad begs as he dives into his eleventh attempt to wrap the scarf around my neck. "It's really cold out there."

"Are you for real?" I seethe as he almost succeeds in choking me out. "And are you trying to kill me?"

"Just give up, there's no point in babying the kid," my mom calls out absently from where she's shoving grilled fish into her face. "He doesn't have to wear the damn thing."

Something about my mom always makes me want to do the opposite of whatever it is she says so I give up and yank the scarf out of my dad's hands, wrapping it around my neck irately. "There! Are we all happy?" I bark, marching to the front door.

"You sure you don't want me to drive you there?" my dad hollers.

"I've never been so sure about something in my life!" I holler as I open the door.

"Okay! If you're sure! Good luck! Uh...plus ultra?!!" my dad cheers uncertainly.

"Blast 'em to hell, kid!" my mom chips in. "Show 'em what you got from your-"

I slam the door shut but it doesn't do much of anything. I bristle. "Shaddup! I shouldn't be able to hear you from all the way out here!"

A few minutes later I'm on the train savagely eating a spicy onigiri I picked up on the way. And then finally...I'm there. And he isn't.

I haven't talked to Deku since that night on the roof. It's like there's a quota of how much we're allowed to talk to each other and we filled it all up on that one day ten months ago. I mean I saw him around. Scurrying around like a ferret and popping around like he's on cocaine. Seriously, I haven't felt energetic enough to chase him down. Besides, I've been mildly preoccupied.

Guess he chickened out, little bastard, I say to myself as I march my way up to Yuuei's entrance. But that doesn't seem right and even I know it.

I'm almost inside when suddenly one of the massive front doors swings open and bashes me in the face. Instant nosebleed. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" a girl's voice shrieks. "I'm so sorry, are you okay?"

"What the hell is wrong with you, moron?!" I hiss, wiping blood off with the back of my hand. "And which way are you even going?" I head towards the door that she'd just crashed through.

"Um!" The girl taps her fingers together anxiously. Just like a certain someone I know. What the hell, why does everything have to remind me of that nerd? "I...uh...right...um...um...it's really bad luck to start your day with a stranger knocking your face in with a door, isn't it? I-"

"You think I'm going to hold the door open for you? Stop talking!"

"Right! Sorry! Here lemme-" the girl hurries forward and opens the door apparently for me. I mutter something under my breath and walk inside. She follows after me but doesn't try to say anything else, thankfully.

We follow the crowd into an auditorium-type room where a bunch of extras are taking their seats. That's when I finally see him. Little bitch sighting. Five rows from the front. Four seats in. Who would have figured he'd get in before me? I was very much expecting to find him dazed and hyperventilating out in front...if he came at all.

Don't kid yourself. I knew he'd be here. I knew it. Because that's who he is. That's why I hate him.

There aren't any free spots near him so I end up sitting next to the girl who tried to kill me. She fidgets and messes with her weirdly cut hair for a few minutes like she thinks I'm going to bite and then finally she relaxes. "Sure are a lot of people," she says.
