It's stopped raining. So we all go outside.
Long, brown grass that's nearly as tall as we are rustles around us. Beyond that are some trees that look like they were struck by lightning and a few dilapidated buildings. Our warehouse is the most intact thing.
He throws his hands in the air enthusiastically. "Let's go find something to eat!"
"Around here?" she asks. "The two of you better learn to start sucking blood."
"We're not quite that desperate yet," he responds.
She shrugs and giggles. "Your loss."
"Let's move," he declares. "Today we're going to move."
He runs forward a few paces and turns to look at me. He clasps his gloved hands behind his back pensively. "Is that okay? Can you walk?"
"Yeah," I say. "Let's go."
