*7 months after the shooting*

Cate gets home from another night at the hospital. She sets her purse down and walks into the living room.

"Cate? How's Y/n?" Claire asks walking downstairs

Cate pours a shot and downs it. "What do you think?".

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

Cate takes another shot. "I don't know how long I can do this." She begins to pour more alcohol.

"Cate don't say that."

"I can say whatever I want, my fiance is literally in a comma and we have no idea if or when she will wake up."

Claire goes silent and watches Cate drink more and more.

Claire walks downstairs and sees Cate mumbling to herself on the couch. Shakily pouring another shot.

"Cate, are you still drinking? It's been hours!"

Cate giggles. "Maybe."

"You're gonna be sick as a dog tomorrow!"

"Nah. I'm invincible!"

"You are very much not." Claire says reaching for Cate's half-empty bottle of vodka.

"Stop! You're ruining my fun." Cate pouts.

"Cmon Cate. Give it to me. I care about you and I'd rather not have you sick tomorrow."

Cate breaks down.

"She's still asleep. God..." Cate starts crying and Claire runs over to hold her. "I don't know if she's ever gonna wake up. I miss them so much." She says slurring her words

Claire grabs Cate's face and stares into her eyes. "It is going to be fine. Y/n is going to wake up and you guys will be together again. I promise."

Cate nods and they look into each other's eyes for a moment. The tension clearly growing. Their faces slowly growing closer and closer until finally Cate leans in and kisses Claire.

Claire jumps back. "You're drunk."

"I'm not that drunk."

"Cate you're very drunk and if you do this to Y/n you'll hate yourself. What are you gonna tell her when she wakes up?"

"As if she's even going to wake up." She rolls her eyes.

"Hey! Don't say that. She's going to wake up and you two are going to get married, move somewhere great, buy a new house. You guys are gonna have it all but in order to do that, you have to wait for her. So wait, Cate. Please."

Cate rolls her eyes again and puts her arms out. "Mm. But it's been like 7 months since I've been touched." She says with a smirk. "When's the last time you were touched, Claire?" She says in a sensual tone. "Don't you want me to touch you?"

"That's none of your business. Now you're drunk so let's get you to bed." Claire says leading Cate upstairs. Cate glares at Claire.

"Cmon now let's not cause any more trouble tonight. I think it's best to get you dressed and to sleep."

"Fine. Whatever but I can walk by myself." Cate says attempting to stand up. She fails and falls to the ground.

Claire rushes to her and picks her up. "See. I told you that you need to go to bed. You're so stubborn."

"I am not."

Claire holds onto Cate's waist so she doesn't fall. Cate stumbles and it takes them quite a while to finally make it to the bedroom and as soon as they do Cate hits the bed and then goes to sleep. Claire turns around and tries to wake her up.
