Author's Notes: The POV is Rex's

Okay, I guess I'm doing this, Rex thought as he sent out a comm to Torrent.

  All available men please report to the barracks for a special mission. Assistance has been requested to locate a trooper and subdue a possible enemy combatant. I need all men willing and able to meet in the barracks within the next ten minutes.

As Rex waited in the barracks for available members from torrent, he felt conflicted. Fives' death was still raw, and yet he was going to assist Fives' killer, someone who he had formerly seen as a vod. Also the fact that he was also going to confront the Chancellor without telling his general made Rex's stomach roil. 

Rex really didn't want to go behind General Skywalker's back, and what he was about to do seemed like a huge breach of trust, but who knew how his general would relax if the Chancellor was what Fox described. General Skywalker was always loyal to the Chancellor and scarily quick to defend his actions, so taking him into a situation where he might have to betray his mentor would not be a good idea. Besides, Rex didn't even know what the situation was and didn't want to interrupt his general's precious time with Senator Amidala if this was a false alarm.

"Captain, what is going on?" Jesse queried, breaking Rex out of his spiraling.

Rex bit his lip, he hadn't even heard Jesse enter the barracks, that wasn't a great sign. He was distracted and he couldn't afford to be. Shaking his head minutely, Rex brought his eyes up to see Jesse peering at him worriedly.

"All you need to know right now is that troopers in the senate building have requested aid. We do not know the extent of the situation, but we know that there is a potential combatant, so we need to be prepared for anything," Rex reported as succinctly as possible.

Rex saw Jesse's brows furrow,  and he saw the concerned lilt of Jesse's mouth as he said, "Rex, please don't give me that bantha crap, we have known each other for a long time, you can trust me! Something bigger is happening, isn't it. We were on leave when we suddenly got a notification that Fives was wanted for treason, and then hours later we get another notification that he's been killed. Now we're going to help some unnamed trooper! What is going on?"

Rex broke eye contact with Jesse, his lieutenant and friend, rubbing his eyes with his hand and pinching his brow. Rex felt a wave of exhaustion rush over him, and he struggled to keep tears from forming once again. Rex started when he felt a hand on his shoulder and when he looked up, he met Jesse's concerned gaze.

"Yeah, you're right Jess, there is more going on here, and I can't get into it all now, there isn't enough time. All I know is that Commander Fox is in trouble, and by helping him we may be confronting a great evil. But by doing so, we may have the opportunity to save many vode," Rex confessed.

Rex could see a multitude of questions burning in Jesse's eyes, but Jesse only commented, "Ok, Captain, let's go save the galaxy then, for Fives and for all our fallen vode."

"Thanks, Jesse. But I think we will need more than just the two of us for this mission," Rex commented sarcastically.

Rex saw Jesse roll his eyes before shooting back, "Captain captain, do you have such little faith in us?"

When Rex sent a barely restrained glare towards Jesse, Jesse smiled cheekily and replied, "Keep your Kama on Captain, I know Kix is on his way, and I saw several other Torrent members making their way here."

"Thank the force," Rex muttered, and Jesse elbowed him good naturally, making Rex smile slightly.

A few moments later, Kix entered followed by Vaughn, Ridge, Appo, Vere, and Koho.
