Gus x mattholomule. I guess

I dont know what to call this chapter 🤔

I decided that there wasn't enough gustholomule in this fandom, so I made this story to add some more😶 enjoy this weird writing I guess. I didn't proof check this btw 😭

Mattholomule pov:
I silently freak out, did he just ask me if I wanted to hang out? I thought he hated me... maybe since I had talked to him at the graveyard he thought I was a better person or something, I just didn't really think he'd want to hang out with me by choice? My opinions of illusionists had changed the day he saved me.. which also happened to be the same day I met him, (sort of? I had seen him around) it was with his illusions which makes sense in this context, but I still wanted to be president of the h.a.s so I decided to keep the act up. It could have been my imagination but those fake artefacts have been missing and I thought I saw him walk back into the room after the whole fiasco. He probably grabbed them and threw them out so that I wouldn't use them again. Why else would he have those? I had been so caught up with my thoughts I had only just realised the bell rung, people flooded the halls.

I try to find my construction class even if I had 10 minutes until my class actually started. I wanted to get there early, I walk past the illusion track homeroom peeking inside. As I suspected, Gus was there, standing up focusing on a spell. I watch in awe and realise he had just cast the spell, and was now looking over at me. He smiles and waves, ok play this cool. I smiled back, teeth and all and tried not to let my ears twitch, I fail. I check my watch and realise I have 5 minutes now, I point my watch at him as if he could see it and shrugged at him, I mouthed 'gotta go see you later' he nodded, looking as if he was trying to hide something behind his back, was it the illusion? Why?? I just let my confused self walk away.

Gus pov:

As he walks away I hear my teacher giggle. I realise she's behind me and turn around bringing the illusion in front of me. The illusion had accidentally taken the form of mattholomule. I guess I was really focused on him the moment i cast the spell. "Um. I can explain miss" I try to make up an excuse. "Go on?" Well shit. "Well... I'm just using him for a guide! He... umm.. said I could!" Nailed it. I hear laughing behind me. The blight twins.. they better not tell Anyone about this. "Then why were you hiding it from him?" She says back to me. "Oh! Um i WASNT hiding it! I was just.. not showing to him because.. it's a challenge! We are doing a challenge" yeah that's a good idea right? "Hm okay, sure let's get back to the actual work please" I nodded and glanced over to the twins.

They were trying to hold in their laughter. They were trying so hard they were turning red. "Do Not tell people about this I will stab you both, this is a threat" I suddenly yell at them. Somehow the teacher didn't notice that. "Whoa okay, okay" emira laughs nervously. "You don't have to threaten us" edric says faking offence. Once I had successfully threatened them, i thought back to what mattholomule had done when I smiled and waved at him. He full on smiled at me it was literally the cutest thing I had seen in my entire life. Obviously I wasn't going to tell people that but it's a thought to hold onto.

I hadn't gotten rid of the mini mattholomule yet and decided to just keep him until the end of class, if he gets unbearable then I will poof him. I continue with my work and suddenly see some moving in the corner of my eye. The tiny mattholomule was jumping up and down excitedly. I smile slightly and glance around to everyone doing their work, even the twins. I place my hand on the table upside down suggesting for him to get onto my hand. (I'm making it so that the illusions can interact with him physically). He slowly walks onto my hand and I hold him next to my ear, this was un-intentional since I was just resting my hand there while holding him. I continue my work until I hear a small whisper in my ear, "hey Gus guess what" It was a small illusion so it couldn't talk that loud. It comes with focus as well though, I whisper a very quiet "what" and bring him closer to my ear. "Look at This!" He yells the loudest he can, which isn't very loud. Some of my classmates still heard and turned to face me. my face flushed and I awkwardly smiled. they turned back to their work and I stared at the illusion waiting for what it was trying to do.

I watched the illusion as it smiled, just like the real mattholomule did earlier on. My ears drop and my face grows hot. I panic and squeak a little, squishing the illusion. Accidentally making a bang noise on the table. Everyone's stares at me, again. "Sorry again" I say quietly. Some of them roll their eyes in annoyance and some just look away again. My thoughts had come back, I had seemed to swallow nervously, only to get more saliva build up at the back of my throat. What if he doesn't like me like that? Or even like me at all! I try to calm myself down and reassure myself. why would he give me his number if he didn't think they were at least friends? yeah, that makes sense, suddenly I hear a small dinging and I look over to the bell to see it had a smaller non-living bell. Must get tiring using your voice like that everyday. I quickly pack up all of the stuff and grab my scroll out, 'hey when do you want to hang out by the way' I walk away and wait a few minutes to make it seem like I wasn't thinking about it as soon as the bell rung. I look over at the clock in the halls and decided it was enough time and pressed send. If he says he has changed his mimd then thats a problem for future Gus.
