Chapter 5

3rd perspective

A few weeks had passed since Barry had gotten his powers and he had been busier than ever with stopping metas and solving cases as a CSI. The twins had noticed that their father would leave really early and come back really late; he was almost never home longer than he had to be.

The twins felt forgotten when it came to their dad seeing as no one else knew they existed other than Aunt Felicity and Uncle Oliver.

The twins woke and went to the kitchen hoping to see their father making breakfast like he used to do but he wasn't there. It was just an empty kitchen with a note stuck on the fridge.

"I got called into work early, they needed a CSI onsite for crime, I left money you two can go to Jitters if you like" Ethan read out loud to his sister who held up a $20 bill that their father had left behind. She went to say something when they heard a buzz from their phones.

It was a text from their dad on the group chat that included the three of them.

Dad

Good morning, sorry I left so late something happened and they needed a CSI

Emily

It's ok dad, will you be back in time for dinner or are you going to Joe's or eating in your lab?

Ethan

Can you join us for dinner dad? Emily's cooking and she lost a bet so she has to make cookies

Dad

I'll see, I still have 9 months' worth of work to catch up on, so I'll have to bring home a couple of case files with me.

Ethan

Can I help you, I want to be just like you when I'm older

Emily

I want to help dad

Ethan

I asked first

Emily

I asked second after all I'm daddy's little princess

Dad

Both of you can help me? How does that sound?

Emily

Ok

Barry couldn't help but chuckle. The twins always would argue over the little things and he found it adorable that two minutes of them teasing each other than making bets over random things.

"Something funny Mr. Allen '' Dr. Wells asked, looking at the young man who had just spent the last 5 minutes on his phone and hadn't been paying attention.

Time skip towards the end of the day

"No, Dr. Wells, how far are we to finding the meta?" Barry said getting the attention off of him Cisco then said it would take him half an hour but Felicity interrupted saying it would take her 5 minutes.

After finally defeating the meta Barry was leaving S.T.A.R Labs he heard someone call his name and he turned to see Felicity "I was hoping I could come and surprise the twins" she said and he nodded super speeding them to the front of the building before he let her down.

"They don't know about my powers and it would be weird for them to see me run into the apartment, oh and Emily's cooking tonight," he said as they walked up the stair "so she making those delicious choc chip cookies," she asked and he nodded "I don't know how she makes them taste so good," she said and Barry chuckle.

"It was her mother's recipe. It's a family secret. She wanted to make it with twins when they were old enough she never got the chance to but I still made it with them as a way of remembering her, you know" he said and she nodded, saying it was sweet.

Barry unlocked the door and the two entered two see a fully set table and an Emily and Ethan covered in head to toe in flour. "Um, what happened?" Barry said looking at the twins and in response, both of them pointed at each other saying 'his/her fault'.

Felicity giggled going up to them "still causing trouble I see" she said before both went to hug her but stopped realising they were still covered in flour. "Aunt Felicity," the two said with smiles covering their faces.

"Why don't you two get cleaned up and me and your dad will clean up the kitchen and take the cookies out when the timer goes off," she said and both ran off not even two minutes later you could an argument about who would take the first shower the two adults laughed and Felicity looked towards Barry and he quickly super speed around the kitchen cleaning the place up.

"Those two are as lively as ever," she said, "trust me I don't even want to know what bet or things they're arguing over now," Barry said grabbing a glass of water. The two just stand there for a minute till the oven starts to beep.

Felicity grabs an oven mitt before taking the cookies out of the oven and putting them on a tray letting them cool. Shen then turned back to close the oven door when she turned around she saw the twins reaching for a cookie she slapped both their hands away and looked over to Barry who was sitting at a stool at the kitchen counter looking at the twins with amusement.

"You can have some after dinner, now where's my hug," she asked and two ten-year-olds ran into her arms and gave her a hug.
