For the next few days Dean tries to help Cas with the research he is doing, but honestly it's pointless. They haven't found anything, and Dean knows that they won't but he just needs Castiel to see that. So he helps him to find the dead ends in the research, but Cas doesn't stop he keeps searching.
"Cas-"
"Here I found this book in one of the rooms down the hall." Cas looks down at the book he gives Dean then walks back to the table.
"Cas-"
"I think that book will help with the research we haven't read it yet." He slides into the chair, and opens the laptop.
"Cas, I know you don't want to listen to me-"
"Dean, I want to listen to you. I could listen to your voice all day and all night until the world burned. I don't want to hear what you have to say, I don't care if you talk to me about anything, anything at all, just not him."
"You remind me of Sam," Castiel flinches at his name. Dean stands and walks over to Cas' side so that he is leaning against the table,"he probably wouldn't give up. He would do exactly what you are doing now. But I can't I'm not wired like that. I have to be hands on, and not on a book or laptop. I need to feel flesh, I need the people or monsters out there who did this to me to feel my pain."
"Well we can't, Dean. We don't know where Gadreel took Sam. We have to summon him or something."
"How Cas?! You have been looking for days! You haven't found crap!"
"I'll find something." Castiel murmurs as he looks back down at the computer. Dean kneels by his side.
"Cas," he whispers. The angel unwillingly looks down at the Winchester,"stop."
Cas looks down at Dean, who looks so weak, so helpless. He closes the laptop Dean stands and Castiel is soon standing as well. They stare at each other for a moment. Cas slides his hand onto Dean's neck and pulls him down. Dean places his hands on Cas' waist and pulls him closer until their hips are touching. Castiel leans into Dean's touch as he slides his hand up his back. The moment there....together....feels endless.
"Cas?" Castiel pulls away from Dean.
"Yeah?" He asks weakly.
"What?" Dean asks as he leans down. Cas lets Dean kiss him.
"I thought I heard something." Castiel says as Dean kisses his neck.
"Castiel." Cas pulls away from Dean entirely, but Dean grabs hold of his hand.
"Are you calling my name?" Dean looks at Cas with eyes that glisten.
"No."
"Someone is." Castiel looks around, still holding Dean's hand.
"What are you talking about?" Castiel keeps searching.
"I-I don't know." Cas turns around to face Dean. He slides his hand out of Dean's. He walks around the library and both are silent, "don't you hear him?"
"Hear who?" Dean asks as he follows Castiel.
"Me." A thick voice says, both men turn to see a short man standing before them. Dean reaches for the knife that he has on him and walks towards the demon. But the king has to do nothing other than raise one finger.
"Uh.uh.uh. I don't think so." Crowley sings as three more demons appear around him.
"No, Crowley." Cas looks about him and Dean looks over his shoulder, "Dean it wasn't-"
"Cas!" Dean shouts and turns around, two demons had appeared behind him.
"Dean." Crowley sings. Dean's face full of emotion melts away it's just hatred. His eyes turn to a deep green, and he clenches his jaw. Dean turns on his heels and tightens his grip on the blade. Crowley smiles at the Winchester, and Dean stares back. Crowley walks towards him with his hands behind his back.
"What do you want?" Dean hisses.
"Nothing, nothing at all I just want you to feel how I felt, down there in that basement."
"You want to torture me? Go ahead!" Dean shouts, practically spitting the words in the demon's face. Dean throws his arms out to the side. Crowley turns around to face his minions.
"Oh, Winchester, there is no need for drama." Crowley slides the a chair out and sits down. Then puts his feet up on the table.
"Let him go." Dean says though his teeth.
"Dean." Cas says calmly. The two demons have him on either side grabbing his arms.
"Cas," Dean says turning half way. Cas looks him in the eyes, he looks scared but he doesn't show it. Dean radiates confidence and rage, not doubt or self loathing. Dean gives Cas a worrisome look and Castiel shakes his head.
"Dean don't do this," Cas looks past Dean, "take me instead." Dean slams his fist down on the table.
"Cas!"
"Look at you two willing to give yourselves up for each other...it makes me sick." Crowley stands and walks past Dean to Cas, "Why would I take you?"
"Because I tortured you he didn't." Castiel says looking down at the King.
"He put me down there." Crowley points back at Dean.
"But he fed you...kept you alive. There were no problems until I came." Castiel says making eye contact with Dean. Dean shakes his head and looks away.
"Torturing Cassie, doesn't that sound nice....Dean." Crowley smirks and looks back at Dean. Dean glares at the demon.
"If you as much as lay a finger on him-" Crowley pokes Castiel's chest.
"You'll what?" Crowley smiles, and Dean takes a leap. Two demons pull him back, "take him to the basement." Crowley orders and turns to face Cas.
"No! Take me. Don't touch him, take me down there! Cas shouts as Crowley walks away.
"Don't worry Castiel, you'll be down there too," Crowley turns around when he is in the doorway of the library, "Dean is just there for the show."
