Chaptor 02: Pulling on the thread

My precious, you are so beautiful
Ahh! I love your smile. You are so wonderful. Ow... eh? My love, did you just heal mommy?
I will give you my child so be a mother to her. My precious treasure.
Akina woke up gasping. It was the same dream again. Who was that woman... Was she that woman's child? Why was she seeing this again?
"Ah, my throat feels dry." Akina got up as she gently got Iroha and another small child off her.
She walked up when she heard a small cry.
"Arara... Did you hurt yourself?" Akina gently placed the child on her lap and gently stroked her head when a gentle light appeared and the child stopped whimpering and fell asleep.
Akina smiled gently as she placed the child back on her bed.
She walked towards the refractory when she filled her glass with water, that was when she heard the scream.
"Eh?"
She looked out of the window when there was a sudden explosion.

"Yusuke!!! This is bad!!!" Botan rushed to Yusuke's stand.
"Now what? Botan! I said this before I will not....." Yusuke was about to speak up when Botan grabbed him.
"This is really bad!!! Some demons from the demon world are here!! They have already attacked!" Botan said desperately.
"Botan, I understand your worry but I am no longer a spirit detective." Yusuke replied while sighing.
"That is why we need your help even more! They have already planned an attack!!!" Botan was desperate.
"What? But Why? We are at peace with them!" Kuwabara who happened to hear the conversation jumped in.
"They are looking for spiritually active humans to devour and enhance their power!" Botan replied.
"Che... Whenever I think of retiring, some idiot always pulls me back to the scene." Yusuke swore as he closed the store.
"Yusuke! Botan!" Kurama's voice reached them.
"Kurama-kun! Did you feel it too?" Botan asked worried.
"It is quite strong, I also got a message from Hiei  that there has been a breech in the south of the patrol." Kurama looked at them worried.
"But where would they be going?" Kuwabara asked when a sudden blast made them look around.
"They have already started!" Botan yelled worried.
"Ah! That place!" Kurama started to run towards the source.
"Kurama! Wait!"

The sound of the blast woke up the children.
"What is going on?" Iroha rubbed her eyes when Akina entered the room.
"Iroha-chan! Listen to me carefully. No matter what happens, you must not leave this room!" Akina grabbed Iroha by her hands and looked at her strictly.
"Akina-chan...." Iroha looked frightened when Akina smiled and touched her cheek.
"I need you to look after them. I promise, I will protect you all." Akina smiled as she got up.
"Akina-chan! Please be safe! After my parents, I cannot lose you!" Iroha cried out.
Akina turned to her and smiled at the frightened girl.
"I am not going anywhere." Akina locked the door and ran out.

"What do you want?" Eisuke shot another blast of power and destroyed one of the minions.
"Hehehe.... You know why we are here! You traitor! You know where the heir of Tenko Tribe is!" An orange haired man smiled at Eisuke
"Tenko was destroyed years ago! There was no survivor!" Eisuke said in surprise.
"There is a rumor that the there is one. She is the sole heir." Another one laughed.
"You all played your part in their destruction! You should know there are no survivors! You even murdered the queen's infant daughter! She had just barely began to walk!" Eisuke shouted as one of them punched him hard.
"Well... We are not sure that brat actually died! By the time we reached inside the palace, the queen was already done for and the infant's body was empty." The orange haired man sneered as he grabbed Eisuke by his hair.
"There is no survivors. You will not get what you want! Leave this place! I will not inform....Ah!" Eisuke was thrown out the wall.
"You are useless! Anyways, once we kill you, those children.... They have some kind of spiritual power right? They will taste executive!" They laughed.
Eisuke's eyes widened.
"No! Not the children!" He tried to stand up when the orange haired man send another blast of energy.
Eisuke looked in fear but as the blast came it dissipated.
"Don't you dare harm Paster Endo!" Her gentle yet firm voice made him look up in fright.
"Akina! Don't!" Eisuke spoke up as he realised about the barrier around him.
"Hoo... You can set barriers around people? Really special human aren't you." The orange haired man turned to look at her.
His eyes widened as a nasty smile crept on to his face. She was not like any human female he had met. Her eyes were so determined, he wanted to see despair in them.
He approached her, while her body stiffened, she did not release her stare.
A crash and a cloud, Akina feel on to the ground coughing. She was suddenly grabbed by one of the demons.
"Well missy! All you can do is create barriers! Why not create one for yourself?" He slapped her to the ground.
Akina felt the blood drip from her lips. She was never much of a fighter.
"So missy? How about it? Huh..." He leered at her body and pulled her closer.
Her top was torn and her jeans were ripped.
"I wouldn't mind bedding you before I eat you up." He leered at her.
Akina swung her leg and hit him between his legs making him buckle and fall down in pain.
"With that thinking, you just like any other teenage boy in human world, you pervert!" Akina yelled as she jumped on the demon making him faint.
She swayed, putting up two barriers was already swapping her energy but she need to protect them.
"Akina-chan!"
Akina's eyes widened in fear as she rushed in her tattered state. Much to her shock, Iroha was crouching in front of one of the demons at the dorm doors.
How did she...Ah! When I let up the barrier for a second to make one for Endo!
"Akina-chan...." Iroha whimpered.
The demon smiled when Akina rushed into him and managed to push him away.
"Iroha! Go inside! Quickly!" Akina grabbed Iroha and threw her back into the dorm door when a stinging pain attacked her back. She turned to see one of the demons sneer at her.
To make matters worse, her back was bleeding.
"I need to be strong. I need to protect them." Akina muttered when one of them rushed at her with his weapon.
Akina's eyes opened wide in fright when suddenly she was whisked and the demon lay on the ground in pieces. She breathed out in relief when she realised that she was in someone's arm. A faint scent of roses made her look up.
She was in Kurama's arms.

"So they are here." Kurama growled.
"Kurama, do you know this place???" Kuwabara asked.
"I had visited this place a few hours ago, I meant with an informant demon here." Kurama replied.
"A demon! Why did you not inform...." Botan glared at Kurama.
"Because he was genuinely happy to be here....." Kurama closed his eyes.
He was protecting her while risking his own life
A scream ran through the air.
"We need to hurry!" Yusuke rushed in with Kuwabara following him.
Kurama rushed in the direction of the pastor quarters.
"Eisuke! Eisuke! Are you okay?" He noticed Eisuke on the ground covered in various injuries.
"Kurama... Kurama...." Eisuke whispered.
"You are terribly injured! Eisuke!" Kurama helped him up when Eisuke grabbed his arms.
"That child! You have to save that child. She is protecting the children and me... If she is injured in anyway, I can never forgive myself. Please Kurama." Eisuke pleaded.
"What child! Who are you talking about?" Kurama asked.
"Akina... That child... Please!" Eisuke lost consciousness.
Kurama's eyes widened when he rushed looking for her. He neared the dorm room when he saw one of the demons lift a injured and bleeding Akina.
Her clothes were tattered and she had a torn lip. As the demon pulled her closer, she quickly kicked in the most painful place making him buckle.
Kurama could not help but chuckle when he looked at the dorm. Many of the demons were trying to enter the rooms but a strong barrier was put up. He quickly turned to look at Akina who swayed.
Suddenly a scream made them look at the dorm door. A child cowered at the door.
"Iroha!" Akina threw herself at the demon and quickly ushered the child in when demon swung his weapon cutting her back.
Akina did not relent, she just turned, although her eyes were full of fear she stared straight at the demon.
"Akina-san!" He quickly drew his rose whip and tore the demon apart while grabbing her in his arms.
She looked up at him, her eyes filled with relief and a little fear.
"Ku... Minamino-san..." She whispered.
"Kurama is fine. That is who I am after all but you know that." Kurama smiled looking at her amused as her face coloured up.
Akina looked surprised and nodded when she gasped.
"Kurama-san! Watch out!"
Kurama turned to see a demon jump at him with a weapon, however before he could hit him the demon was thrown back.
"Akina-san! Did you put up this barrier?" Kurama asked as Akina leaned on him.
"I have to protect everyone." Akina muttered.
Kurama smiled as he lifted her chin.
"You don't have to. Everyone is fine." Kurama let go her.
"Eh? What about the children?" Akina asked worried.
"They are okay, thanks to you. But Eisuke is injured badly, we shall have Botan.... Akina-san!" Kurama followed Akina who ran towards the pastor quarters.
"Endo-san! Endo-san!" Akina crouched next to the injured Eisuke.
"I am fine Akina, you are injured?" Eisuke touched her cheek.
"I shall help you Endo! Please hold on!" Akina placed her hand on his chest.
Kurama watched in surprised as a light filled Eisuke as the wounds began to vanish. His colour got better and he opened his eyes in surprise at Akina.
"I am glad." Akina smiled when her eyes closed.
Kurama grabbed her in time.
"Akina, you are too kind for your good." Eisuke touched her cheek as tears filled his eyes.
"Kurama! Are you okay? Eh? This kid...Eh? Isn't this Mikiko-chan's friend?" Yusuke asked surprised.
"Ahh... She has been injured, was she fighting these demons? She is human isn't she?"Kuwabara asked as he stared at Akina was now asleep in Kurama's arms.
"Let me heal her." Botan touch her when she looked surprised.
"You felt it didn't you. I felt it too when I meet her the first time." Eisuke spoke up.
"What do you mean Eisuke?" Kurama asked.
"Can we lay her down so she can heal her? I shall tell you as much as I can." Eisuke gently ruffled Akina's head.

"As far as I know, Akina has always been able to see demons, auras and people's intention. It made her suffer a lot. Being kind and gentle, the darkness of the world put her young heart in turmoil. She was barely 8 when I met her and yet she was suffering... So I made her those glasses so she can see everything as a normal human." Eisuke gently patted Akina's dead.
"How about her other powers?" Botan asked.
"I noticed Akina could heal injuries. She would heal injured birds and small animals. I warned her to never use that in front of people and before I knew it, she was able to create barriers. This child never thought twice when she decided to forgive me." Eisuke looked away.
"Why did these demons attack here??" Kuwabara asked.
"They claimed to be searching the heir of Tenko Tribe. There has been a rumour in the demon world that the infant princess somehow survived." Eisuke replied.
"What??" Yusuke, Botan and Kurama were shocked.
"Tenko? What are you talking?" Kuwabara looked surprised.
"Wasn't Tenko destroyed in a night?" Kurama asked surprised.
"It was.... I know because... I was one of the demons involved in the destruction!" Eisuke confessed.
There was shock registered on everyone's face.
"We got information that they would weaken the barrier around the tribe land. By the time I infiltrated, it was carnage. The Tenko tribe are peaceful, very few of them fight and the queen was just recovering her energy from her childbirth as her daughter had also just started to walk.... When they tried to attack the queen... her infant daughter... that child.... Could not be more than a few months old, she protected her mother with every inch of her life. The queen managed to get into the inner palace with her nearly dead child. By the time I reached, she had already been brutally killed and her child..."  Eisuke closed his eyes as tears flowed down his cheek.
Kuwabara felt he was going to be sick. How can anyone be that cruel.
"Why was everyone seeking the Tenko tribe? They were a peaceful and gentle race!" Botan asked angrily.
Eisuke looked up.
"Tenko tribe people have the power to distort time and space, at the same time when they use their wings, they provide spiritual energy and healing. Trying to achieve that power.... That was what motivated them, I... I just wanted to meet the queen I admired.... And yet... I..." Eisuke looked at Akina.
"What does Akina-san have to do with this?" Kurama asked.
"Since the Tenko tribe does not exist, they will go to any extent to gain the healing and barrier power. Akina has both. I just want to protect her. I know that by doing so, my sins will not be cleared but...."
I forgive you. I know you cannot forgive yourself but I forgive you.
Kurama looked at the sleeping girl. When he met her for the first time, he had noticed the kind and gentle atmosphere around her. She was too beautiful.
Eh? Why... Why am I feeling so attracted to her?
"Mmm....eh?" Akina opened her eyes and sat up.
"Akina-chan?" Botan looked at her when Akina sighed.
"Is it my time already? I don't think I was injured so badly." Akina muttered looking at Botan.
"Eh?"
"You have the aura of the grim reaper you know..." Akina pouted.
"You can see our auras?" Kuwabara blurted out.
"Mhm. Yoko (Fox demon), Demonkin, grim reaper and... eh? Human with spiritual powers?" Akina pointed at each of them.
"Your vision is rather strong. Are you really human?" Botan asked.
"I am." Akina replied pouting.
Kurama chuckled making Akina blush. Botan noticed this and nudged Akina who winced.
"Ah! Your ribs are broken!" Botan was about to place her hand when Akina stopped her.
"They will heal on their own." Akina replied .
"But!" Botan protested.
"Look." Akina pulled up her tattered t-shirt to which they were surprised.
Her wounds were closing and the bruising was changing colour.
"Eh? Does that mean you cannot be killed?" Kuwabara asked excited when Yusuke bonged his head.
Akina shook her head.
"If I am fatally hit... I can still die. These wounds while painful are not fatal. Besides it takes me a day to heal myself." Akina muttered.
"It's going to be day light soon... Oh! I can police sirens." Botan spoke up.
Akina swung her feet to stand when she swayed only to be caught by Kurama. She looked at Kurama and blushed.
"Let's get you to a hospital."
