Chapter 03- A drastic chance

"Akina! You idiot! Why did you go and try and fight with the terrorists????" Sumiko hugged Akina who winced.
"Iroha-chan and the others were in danger!" Akina replied.
"HAAAAA????? What about yourself you idiot!" Mikiko shouted.
"Eh? Ah.... I... I didn't think?" Akina replied happily only to be smacked by Sumiko.
"This idiot, there is a limit to your kindness and selflessness." Mikiko cried out.
"Eh? Kindness... Why does that always be what you say about me?" Akina asked confused.
"Do you always think about yourself?" Sumiko asked angrily.
"I do." Akina replied.
"How?" Both Mikiko and Sumiko asked sceptically.
"I came back to Japan and currently studying to be a doctor!" Akina replied happily.
"Hooooo...."  They still grounded her.
"Yeah! That way I can help... Eh?"
"There! I knew it! Your ambition is just the same. Why can you not be selfish?" Sumiko continued yelling.
"Eh.... Why isn't this also selfish?" Akina asked nervously when Mikiko and Sumiko rounded at her again when the hospital door opened.
Akina blushed which was noticed by both Mikiko and Sumiko. They both had similiar smiles on their faces.
"How are you doing Akina-san?" Kurama asked as he handed her a bouquet.
Akina just nodded.
"Ah! Akina you love strawberry juice right?" Sumiko spoke up.
"You also love chocolates! Ah! I think the vending machine there has your favourite Thunder bar!" Mikiko joined hands with Sumiko as they rushed out.
Don't leave me here ! Akina cried out internally.
"Are you feeling better now?" Kurama asked Akina.
"Eh? Yes." Akina replied shyly.
"You do not speak much do you?" Kurama commented.
"Eh? Ah....I... I am just not sure..." Akina muttered.
"Akina-san, what do you see when you look at me? Maybe if we address that, you can overcome your fear of me." Kurama spoke kindly.
"I see a silver fox." Akina replied softly.
"So you know who I am." Kurama replied.
"I am not scared of you or anything... Just... umm..." Akina looked at her sheets.
Kurama just smiled when the door opened.
"Hi Kid! Are you feeling better?" Yusuke entered with Botan and another girl with long brown hair.
"Don't be loud Yusuke! She is recovering!" The girl scolded him.
"Stop hitting me Keiko! So squirt, are you feeling better?" Yusuke smiled at her.
Akina smiled as she nodded.
Yusuke and Keiko stared at her, the moment she smiled, a strange calm entered their hearts.
"You are a senior in High school?" Keiko asked.
Akina nodded. She looked down, she was never that great with talking to people.
"Anyways.... Akina... It's okay if we call you Akina?" Kurama asked her when she nodded.
"Have you always been able to see the aura's?"
"Since I was born I think. My parents would jokingly say that I tend to sense evil as I would when someone who did not have good intention picked me up... Even then... I still fall for people's pretensions... I mean..." Akina replied.
"How about your healing and barriers?" Botan asked curiously.
"Since I can remember. When I was around 4 or 5... We were crossing the road when .... I noticed a vehicle rushing at my father... Before I realised, my father was okay but I was injured. It was the first time I created a barrier." Akina spoke softly.
"Have you been targeted by demons before?" Kurama asked firmly.
Akina looked up and nodded.
"Yes. Endo-Sensei gave me those glasses so I could mask myself but.... But... I cannot..." Akina looked down.
Kurama understood. If she had noticed a demon trying to attack someone, she must have intervened.
"AKINA! They had your favorite Mikan sweets! Also Sumiko left, she has practise today" Mikiko walked in happily when she paused and then smiled.
"Yusuke-san! Ah! Even Keiko-san!"
"Mikiko-chan! How have you been doing???" Keiko hugged Mikiko enthusiastically.
"I have been wonderful. Ah! Akina! Here! I better get going otherwise I will be late for my part time!" Mikiko waved and left.
"Mikiko-chan told me you saved her when she tried to kill herself." Keiko smiled at Akina who just blushed.
"Umm.. I just did what everyone would do! Besides... Mikiko is a good person... She deserved a chance..." Akina mumbled.
Humble, gentle and Kind. I can understand why people flock around her.
Kurama chuckled when the nurse entered.
"Matsumura-san, it is time for your medicines."
"We shall get going then! See you around squirt! The ramen in on me this time!" Yusuke grinned as he left with Keiko and Botan.
Akina waved when she sighed. She then realised that Kurama had sat down on the chair next to her.
"Eh?"
"I will stay with you for a while. The demons who attacked you will retaliate. It's best I protect you for a while." He smiled.
Akina felt her face grow warm.
"It's okay! I can protect...." She muttered when Kurama got up and gently lifted her chin.
His emerald eyes stunned her. She had never seen such beautiful eyes, she wanted to stare in them forever.
"You are currently weak and exhausted. Besides they will come after you, now that they know your abilities." Kurama said quietly.
Akina just nodded as Kurama moved aside for the nurse to give Akina her medication.
"There we go. I shall come again later to check on you." The nurse smiled as she left.
Kurama noticed that Akina suddenly relaxed.
"Akina? What's wrong?" Kurama asked.
"Eh?"
"It seemed like you were very stiff and frightened a minute ago." Kurama looked at her.
"Ah... Um... I don't know... I suddenly felt like I should be on my toes." Akina replied when Kurama's expression became grim and alert.
Akina blinked. She could see his aura but she felt relaxed and safe with him.
She could trust him.
"Kurama-san?" When he leaned back.
"I think its best I stay here for now. They might have already infiltrated this hospital." Kurama said softly when he noticed her frightened face.
"So, are you an only child?" Kurama asked suddenly.
"Eh? No, I have an older brother." Akina replied confused by the sudden question.
"And you parents?" Kurama asked.
"They are currently abroad. They will return in a few years. I wanted to study medicine so I came back." Akina replied.
"You are aiming to be a doctor?"
Akina nodded.
"It kind of made sense, since I could heal people and help them." Akina replied with a soft smile.
"You are a very kind person aren't you, Akina?" Kurama asked with a gentle smile.
"I wonder if that is true.... Mikiko and Sumiko always say that I need to be selfish but I think I am selfish, the kindness I am showing might be me trying to show people I am kind." Akina looked downcast.
"I think your kindness is innate and you are aware of it, that is why you feel your kindness is not genuine but you know Akina, the fact you are worried about your kindness shows that your are a kind person." Kurama replied.
Akina looked at him and smile.
"I hope so."
Although she had been a bit frightened of him, she could tell him anything. That made her feel happy and light.
"I think you should rest a little." Kurama looked at her.
Akina nodded as she laid down. She watched as Kurama picked up a newspaper near by and started to read. Watching his eyes move through the paper, the firm set of his jaws, she drifted into sleep.
Kurama looked up and noticed that she was fast asleep. Her sleeping face was so beautiful and peaceful. He remembered the fairy tale of Cinderella his human mother, Shiori often told him.
He often it found it stupid that the prince would kiss a girl he did not know just by seeing her face but as he watched Akina sleep, he could understand the temptation.
So, you are slowly starting to imprint in my mind." Kurama chuckled.

Akina got up gasping again.
The woman again. She was so hurt and bleeding yet she smiled so kindly. Who was that woman? Who was she?
"I see you are awake. I was hoping the sleeping drought would keep you knocked out but it does not matter?" A man in a white coat sneer while the nurse who came earlier sneered at her.
Akina was taken aback. Kurama was no where to be seen.
"Hmm? I think its still working, she is unable to react fast, it means I can still take her before she sets up any barrier." The man suddenly transformed into a green coloured lizard like demon.
"What.... What do you want?" Akina pulled the sheets around her.
"Isn't it obvious, it helps you are rather good looking." He sneered as he grabbed the front of her robes.
Akina tried to push him but her body felt horribly weak. The demon pinned her to the bed.
"Oi! MaKE SURE NO ONE COMES HERE"
Akina felt tears pool in her eyes.
Some save me! KURAMA-SAN!

Kurama had just picked up the can when he suddenly became alert. He could feel the strong Yoki coming from within the hospital.
KURAMA-SAN
He could hear Akina's voice. She sounded frightened and helpless. He quickly ran towards her hospital room when anger coursed through his veins.
Akina was pinned to the bed by a demon while another demon rounded at him.
Akina's eyes were filled with tears, her body was stiffened with fear. Her eyes were on him, pleading with him.
"What do you think you are doing to her?" Kurama's body radiated anger.
"Huh? You want her too? You may have to wait your turn. You.." He motioned to the other demon as he pulled Akina's robe apart.
The demon grinned wider when he suddenly noticed that Kurama was standing just on his side.
"Ha... How... How...." The demon looked frightened.
Akina gasped, Kurama's anger seemed to extend his aura. It was frightening yet it was rather alluring for her.
Kurama extended the thorny green while and grabbed the demon off and then quickly sliced him into multiple pieces. He then released the whip which turned back into a red rose.
"Akina?" He stepped back, a strange yet gentle aura was surrounding her
"You heard me." Akina whispered happily as she leaned onto the bed.
"They have given you some strong sleep drought. Your energy has been swapped by it. Can you walk? We need to get you out of here, your aura will allure every demon out there." Kurama picked her in his arms.
The door opened wide when another demon appeared.
"It's her! She is the healer! If her eat her, I will gain her abilities!" The demon rushed.
Kurama quickly protected her , his arms slashed by the demon, when he quickly planted a seed on the demon which sprouted into multiple flowers.
"Kurama-san... you are injured." Akina whispered softly.
"I am fine, Akina, I need you to... Akina! What are you!" Kurama looked at her shocked when she placed on his arm and a gentle light surrounded his arm.
"Akina! Stop, your energy..... Akina..." Kurama's eyes softened.
Akina had called asleep after healing his injury. He quickly took her out of the hospital and rushed towards Yusuke's house.

"EHHHH!!! The demons have been following her????" Yusuke exclaimed surprised.
"She has been releasing a rather powerful aura. I think the glasses Eisuke gave her suppressed her aura and kept her hidden but now that its no more, she cannot keep up with suppressing her spiritual powers." Kurama looked at the sleeping girl.
"How powerful is she?? She can barely fight? I mean, she was almost in pieces when taking down just one demon!" Yusuke countered.
"Her power is not fighting. She is definitely a powerful healer and her ability to make barriers show that she no ordinary human. This maybe why the demons want to use her." Kurama's eyes were closed but Yusuke could tell that he was angry.
Kurama looked at his arm. She had heal his injury without even considering that she was weak. He had a soft smile when he noticed something glowing on her chest.
"Oi oi Kurama! Isn't that a bit perverted?" Yusuke blabbered when Kurama shifted her robe to the side.
"It's not that... This... It's a birthmark.... But.... This shape... where have I seen it?" Kurama responded as he started at the pale pink birthmark on the right side of her chest, a few lines below her clavicle.
"Eh? It looks like a.... Flower crossed with a stick? What the heck?" Yusuke muttered.
"HAA!!! You perverts! Attacking a girl when she is defenceless!" Botan yelled.
"It was not me! Kurama...." Yusuke stepped back.
"Botan, have you seen this shape anywhere?" Kurama indicated the birthmark.
"Eh? Not really... But it sure glows.... That must be attracting the demons." Botan pondered as she placed the clothes she brought next to the bed.
Kurama looked at her. There was something about her he could not ignore.
