Jake's letter (7)

Jake's pov

After escorting Heesung back home, me and my friend from the jail, Jungwon. Started heading to a different part of the country. I wasn't able to tell Heesung anything since we were on the move for 5 days straight.

"Should we stop here?" Jungwon asked, pointing at a sign that read

"Entering 의성 (Uiseong) South, Korea"

"Wow.. we've traveled that far?!" I looked around, seeing lots of new places I had never seen before. "Yep! We've came from 광주(Gwangju) all the way here."

"That's.. about 130 miles.. I won't be able to tell Heesung that we're okay for a while then.." I sighed, "yeah let's stop here for a bit." I said as Jungwon pulled into an empty parking lot, parking the car and leaning his seat backwards so he was slightly laying down.

"We'll find somewhere else to go to tomorrow. Okay?" He asked as he rolled onto his side facing me. Giving me a slight smile, his dimples showing. I nodded as a reply.

Heesung's pov

I slowly sat up from my bed. Keeping my eyes closed and slightly pouting. Knowing another boring day would pass with no word from Jake. I stood up, walking downstairs to eat breakfast. But instead of being greeted with a 'good morning', I was greeted with excited squeals.

"What's got you all excited?" I opened my eyes fully, seeing my mother holding a medium sized envelope. "Jake sent you this!" She shoved the envelope into my hand, leaving me shocked.

"Really?!" I asked as I ripped open the envelope. I quickly ran to the living room couch. Reading the letter he had sent.

Dear Heesungie,
Me and Jungwon have made it safely out of the area! So don't worry too much love. We've arrived in Uiseong.. so we're only a few hundred miles away. We'll find a place to stay soon and I'll come see you as soon as I can. Don't get into any trouble okay? Stay safe and don't come after me yet.

A dark crimson tint covered my pale cheeks. He's safe..! And he said he loves me! Butterflies filled my stomach as I imagined his voice saying those three words to me.

"I love you."

I fell backwards in the couch. Squealing and covering my face with the letter. Re-reading it over and over. "Mom he's okay!" I exclaimed. "What did he say?!" She replied, running into the living room. "He said he's okay... and he said he's with a friend." I hid my smile with the letter.

"Oh come on! Don't be boring Heesung!" My mom replied. "He said he loves me.." I whispered as a smile appeared on her face. "We'll of course he does honey!" She replied, hugging me tightly.
