BRYNLEE

"We're back bitches." Jesse said when we exited the car.

"Bro, don't yell. It's late already." Marcus shut him off. I had to chuckle a bit because of those two. They always bother each other and I thought it was really funny, but they thought different sometimes.

It was a really weird evening. When Declan asked about me, I found it hard to talk about my personal life, because my parents, mostly my dad, plays such a big role in my life. I'm just not ready to talk about that, especially to like new people. Mason also acted really weird, as always actually. He's so bossy when he's around me. Dominant people attract me, but not if it makes them arrogant. It causes me to only really talk to Jesse and Marcus, sometimes with Declan, Phil, Ben and Luke as well, but I haven't spoken a word to Mason since then.

We all walked back together into the building. It was almost 11 in the evening, so everyone went straight to their rooms. I opened my door and wanted to close it straight after, but someone pushed it back open.

"Oh, hey Mason. What's up?"

"Hi. Can I come in for a bit?"

I hesitated for a bit. Why did he came here? "Um, sure." He got a hold on my waist and brushed past me. I felt myself having problems to breath for a split second. Just when I closed the door, I turned around and stood a few inches away from him. He was already staring at me. It was kind of intimidated, but it gave me a weird feeling in my stomach. I slowly walked backwards, but when I did, he closed the gap towards me. Soon enough I ended against the door which I just closed.

We were just a few inches apart when he put his arms just above my head against the door, staring into my eyes. "You have beautiful eyes, you know that?" Mason said, almost whispering, in a really low and husky tone.

"Is this your way to get in to my pants? Acting mean around people, but flirt when we're alone?" Yeah, I was kind of intimidated, but I had to be the confident woman I always was. This boy in front of me tried to be dominant over me, but that's not happening.

He chuckled and looked away for a short time. "It's so funny how we're both dominant. Both wanting that spot on the field, huh?"

"Oh, so that's why you're always mean to me? Mount can't accept he has competition now?" I teased.

"You're no competition for me." He grinned. "You're distracting me." He continued, staring into my eyes again.

"Hmm, that's not my problem. Let's see who gets the spot tomorrow, huh?" I teased him again, now putting one hand on his chest. He looked down to follow my hand and then back to my eyes. It was obvious that he was surprised by my action, but he took a few steps back and pulled me away from the door so he could open the door.

"Let's see." He smirked and walked out of the room. "Goodnight Brynlee."

"Goodnight Mason." I closed the door and went straight to the bed, processing what happened. He's really playing with me. This boy is giving me so much feelings and it's annoying, but I kinda like it as well.

Match day! Or well, practice match day. Today we don't play in a stadium and with no camera's as well, against Germany. I'm pretty excited I must say. It's still going around in my head of what happened last night, but I slept well so that's alright.

I put on my training kit and went to the restaurant upstairs. We would have breakfast with everyone there and then go for a last training before the match.

When I walked out of my room Ben spotted me, so we walked to the restaurant together. Ben is a really sweet and handsome boy, so caring and really fun to talk with. I wouldn't see myself in a relationship with him though, but I could see us as best friends.

"Do we have our couple there?" Mason scoffed. It almost looked like he was jealous or something. It would be funny if he actually was.

"Yeah man." Ben said sarcastically and left a soft little kiss on my forehead before I walked off to Jesse and Marcus.

"Hi twats." I said when I sat down in front of them.

"Wow, why did we deserve that?" Jesse pretended to be hurt, putting his hand over his heart and with his mouth open.

"Oh, you know me." We laughed together and got our breakfast. Sometimes I scanned the room when I was eating. Everyone just talked with each other and ate their breakfast, but sometimes Mason looked up as well. Not to scan the room, but to look at me. We made eye contact a few times and he would start smirking. It made me roll my eyes, but also feel that weird feeling in my stomach again. I didn't let him get to my head, I had to focus, because I obviously want that starting position.

"Do you think you will start?" Marcus asked when we left the restaurant to get to the field.

"I don't really know. I guess not. I'm new here, so it wouldn't surprise me."

"Yeah, okay. But it's a practice match." Jesse came in.

"That's true, but- yeah I don't know." I laughed off, because I had no idea what to expect.

"Good finish, Mount!" Southgate yelled when Mason scored a goal in the last training. It's kind of amusing how Mason doesn't show his expressions when he gets a goal. He ran past me to get at the back of the row.

"Show it, Bryn." He whispered quickly, but not in a supportive way, in a competitive way. He really knew how to play with my feelings. I lost my focus for a bit when I realized he used my nickname. Show it? What did he mean by that? Is he saying that I'm not good enough? Time to focus again, Bryn.

It was my time to shine, when Mings was done. I got in the right row so I had to shoot with my left foot, in other words my weak foot, but everyone had to do it. I passed the ball to the trainer and he passed it back. It positioned perfectly, so the only thing I had to do is hit it right. And I did. The ball flew into the upper left corner and I got everyone screaming.

"Excellent, Brynlee!" I heard Southgate yelling when I jogged back to the back of the row. Mings gave me a quick hug while I saw Mason looking at us. It was obvious that he was bothered, because I could see that he rolled his eyes and it was amusing me, honestly.

The training went great. I could feel myself getting more confident and comfortable, but shortly after training it was time to reveal the starting 11 for the practice match.

"Alright, so our first "match" in a long time. Obviously our loss in the Euro Finals was hard, but the World Cup Qualifiers went great and I have a really good feeling about all of you. My plan is to start with the 11 who played in the last qualifiers, so that means: Pickford, Shaw, Maguire, Stones, Walker, Rice, Phillips, Foden, Mount, Sterling and Kane. I will probably sub further in the match." Southgate said when we all gathered in the dressing room. It was disappointing that I couldn't start, but it was only a practice and I could understand the choice as well. He plays his standard team, so the rest can adjust to their style of playing, but that doesn't change the fact that I would love to start. It annoyed me a bit that Mason was starting, because he obviously had to brag about it towards me, but I just let it slide past me. I will show him that I deserve to play on that spot.
