Chapter 2: Idiot is a Five Letter Word

Kaikane was beginning to wonder why he was even at the Nakano Residence. Somehow, the girls had managed to undermine Futarou to the point where he hadn't gotten anywhere with teaching. All they did was skid past his questions and chat about things that didn't have a thing to do with school. Nino had tried to convince the others to leave but was met with a firm no from Futarou every time she did.

Miku had been arguing with Nino over her tracksuit and ignoring Futarou, while Ichika was struggling to stay awake. Yotsuba was seemingly the only one doing the school work, and poorly, since Futarou kept groaning at every answer she wrote down on the paper. After about an hour of this show, he clapped his hands, calling for them to stop.

"Alright, take a break while I figure out what to do with this," he said, sounding rather distraught. Yotsuba shot out of her seat and toward the stairs screaming "bathroom" while Ichika plopped down in her spot, having been using her lap as a pillow for the last 15 minutes.

"This is fun," Kaikane said, looking away from his schoolwork. "This is a fun time. Could have been at the Arcade but nope... here I am suffering with hell, after hours."

"Remember the deal man."

"I know, I know."

"Deal? What deal?" Nino piped up, looking away from her phone. She sat up a bit, shifting in her seat as she crossed her legs. "Oh I get it, the two of you cut a deal with daddy right? Splitting the money and making sure the two of you have each other covered?"

"No, actually. We have an entirely different deal that doesn't involve you in the slightest. Let's just say I am here because of my own reasons," he replied, pulling his 3DS from his backpack. "Now then, I got a Psychic-type run to get back to, this Kirlia is being a pain in the ass to level up and I want to get it over with as soon as I can."

"Pfft, you play Pokemon? What a loser!"

"Says the girl who has every Pokemon game and plays Pokemon GO on her phone," Miku said, placing a cookie in her mouth. Nino flushed bright red but said nothing, looking at the far wall.

"Kaikane, the break isn't for you, it's for the girls. We still haven't reviewed your test, so take it out." Futarou said sternly, making the young man sigh. He snapped his system closed, placing it on the table as he shoved his hand in his pocket. He handed it to Futarou who rapidly unfolded it, checking it over. "65? 65? Dude, you had this test. It's all easy material."

"Why are you giving him a hard time? He passed, didn't he?" Ichika asked, rubbing her eyes with her hand. "You shouldn't be so hard on him."

"I am hard on him because he used to be Top 5th in our school, with a shoo-in for second place. But he started slacking and fell out of the top 20. If he keeps going like this he's gonna flunk out."

"Am not... as long as I am passing, I'll be alright. Besides, I don't have to worry much," he said with a shrug.

"Yes, you do! Come on man, with grades like yours you could go to any school you want!"

"That won't get me to convince my father to let me go to the school I want though. You know how he is with this shit. Can we please focus on something else?" Kaikane snapped, glaring at his friend. Futarou sighed, folding the paper in half.

"Fine, but I swear I will whip you into shape if it's the last thing I do. I will not let my friend fail, understand?"

"Yeah yeah. Hey Ribbons, mind if I get some water? My throat is dryer than the Sahara Desert."
