She's so fucking beautiful. She is lying there in the lounge chair next to her college roommate Hannah and I can't fucking take my eyes off of her. She's talking to Hannah and she's laughing and she looks so happy. Felix and I walk over to the girls and hand them their drinks.
"Thank you baby", Hailey says to me. "What is it?"
"It's pineapple juice and Malibu rum. Felix said that Hannah really likes it so I thought that you might too".
She takes a sip of her drink and looks up at me and smiles.
"It's good", she says, and I bend down and kiss her on the lips and then sit down in the lounge chair next to her.
"So this one here, did you know that he can sing?', Hannah asks me, as she points to Felix.
"Who? Felix? Uh, no he can't", I say, as I laugh hysterically.
"Bro, cut me some slack", Felix says with a laugh.
"I'm serious. They had karaoke in the bar last night and he got up there and sang. He was great", Hannah says. I look over at Felix and he has such a shit eating grin on his face.
I can't stop laughing. "I don't believe you. How much did you have to drink last night?", I ask her, knowing full well that my bro Felix cannot carry a fucking note.
"Well.....I guess you might have a point there. We were pretty wasted. All I know is that he got up there and well.....well, I think he was great.', she says with a laugh. She smiles over to Felix who lifts his drink into the air and says, "'did you hear that, Chance, she thinks I was great".
"Yeah, I heard her", I say. "I don't believe her, but I did hear her," I say.
Everyone is laughing, and then I say, "Hailey is the one who can sing. She has a beautiful voice. I know because I heard her sing in church".
Felix just about spits out his drink. "You went to church?", he asks me, and now he is the one who is hysterically laughing.
Hailey reaches over and grabs hold of my hand.
"Yes.....I've been twice actually since coming over to the States. And, I didn't even get struck by lightning", I tell him.
Felix is just shaking his head. "That's great buddy. I think its great, I guess I'm just surprised is all".
"Well, it sounds to me like Hailey is rubbing off on him and that is a very good thing. You, know, Felix, some churchin would do you a lot of good too", Hannah says to him with a laugh and a smile.
"No doubt', Felix says, "but I don't think I'm quite ready for all that. I'm quite certain I'd be struck by lightning the moment I stepped through the doors. Maybe someday; probably someday,", he says.
"I can see that", Hailey says. Her voice surprises me. "I think you're a very good man, Felix, just like Chance. I'm certain of that, otherwise, I don't think the two of you would be such good friends. I don't think you give yourself enough credit", my girl tells him.
"Well, I appreciate that, Carolina. I really do. Seriously, I can tell all of you this. No one has been more surprised at the transformation in my bro here than me and I couldn't be happier for him. Maybe that will happen for me someday too; you never know", Felix answers her as he glances over at Hannah.
"Yeah, maybe it will. I think all you need is to find the right woman", Hailey says, "that will happen, one day, you know, maybe even sooner than you think".
