Davina's POV
"BUON GIORNO DAVI!" I jumped out of bed. Jesus Christ mother of mafia Ace's mom scared the living soul inside of me. I awkwardly smiled. God I probably look like a zombie.
"What's going on Maria?" I asked awkwardly.
"We only have 9 hours to get ready! I am going to do your nails, your hair, and your makeup as your birthday present today!" She yelped. Oh yeah, I'm 18 HAHA. Shit. I nodded my head and she shooed me into my shower. She's such a sweet lady but my goodness she is one strong woman.
I took about an hour in the shower. What? A girl's gotta shave everywhere. EVERYWHERE. I had a robe on and a towel was wrapped around my head. I walked out to my room and on my vanity, Maria had everything set up already. I might hire her to be my makeup artist because man this woman seems like she knows exactly what she is doing.
"Come, sit Davi dear." She lead me to the seat and pulled out a hair dryer.
"Before you turn that on, have you seen Ace at all today?" I asked.
"Yes! I spoke with him about tonight and he left this morning to Don's house to get ready there. He said he didn't want to see you in the process of getting ready." She smirked at me. "You know Davina, Ace may seem cold and emotionless, but that's because his dad has always told him to never have a weakness. It could get in the way of his missions." Maria looked down to her shoes.
"I am aware of that Maria. But after this event, I don't think my father is going to make me still marry Ace. As much as I do believe Ace is a good person, I don't think We would have to bump into each other after tonight." Ace's mom looked a bit sad if anything when I said that.
"Such a shame. You would have made amazing babies." We both burst into laughter and she got to drying my hair. She was joking right?
After my hair was dry, I went downstairs to grab something to eat before Maria could start on my hairstyle. I wanted something formal, but not too eye catching. I got a fruit bowl out of the fridge and sat in the kitchen when I heard footsteps heading to the kitchen. I looked up and met eyes with Ace's dad. This is awkward.
"Hi" I spoke in a quiet tone. He looked at me and smiled. I always got good vibes from him. I sensed that he was a good man. Even though he was at war with my dad. I don't know, it was something about him that made me feel safe.
"So I see my wife is helping you get ready for tonight." I nodded. "Good, good. Do me a favor and stick with Ace throughout the whole night? Just for your safety." I tilted my head in confusion.
"I think the only reason my dad's holding this event is for me to come home to be honest with you sir" I said.
"Please, call me Fernando. And Ace didn't tell you?" I squinted my eyes. What is he on about?
"We believe that your father could try and kill you tonight." My eyes widened. "He never told us to call off the wedding and he said as long as your father and I sign the forms, both of our mafias will become one even if you and Ace were to get divorced." No. This isn't true. He's just trying to get into my head.
"Listen sir-Fernando." I stuttered. "I understand that you want to look after me, but my father would never try to kill me. Just because I failed one mission does not mean he would just shoot me. He may be mad at the moment, but I don't think he would ever do such a thing." I spoke and before he could say anything I left the kitchen and headed back to my room. I didn't want to tell Maria about what just happened so I just shrugged it off.
Four Hours Later
Maria finished my hair and it was beautiful. She really knows what she's doing.
