Five Days Later
Ace's POV-
Davina hasn't come out of her room ever since our talk. I had our maid leave food in front of her room, but it was never touched. I had to tell Davina about her birthday event that her father had planned soon because it was tomorrow. I slipped a note under her door but I'm not sure if she had read it or not. If I don't see Davina in the afternoon, I swear I'm breaking her door down. I shook it off and got out of bed and into the shower. I went downstairs after getting dressed into a white button down and black suit pants. As I walked into my office, I saw my father sitting down across my desk. This should be fun.
"Son. We have a lot to talk about." He spoke. No shit sherlock.
"What do you you want?"
"Well for starters, that's not how you should greet your father. It's about Davina's birthday event. We are still unsure of why Davina's father wants to hold a ball for her, so I need you to watch over Davina the whole night." My father sounded worried.
"Why do you suddenly care about Davina?" I asked.
"Well. She is the first girl you have ever felt something for. And as much as I want you two getting married for our mafias to become one, I actually like Davina." My father liked someone. A girl. My girl.
"I don't feel anything towards Davina. I am only doing this for your own good. Once this whole shit show is done, I can see whoever I want and fuck whoever I want." I scowled at my father. He looked at me and chuckled. He got up from his seat and walked out. I didn't feel anything for her.
Davina's POV
It's been five fucking days since I left my room. I had water with me and all I pretty much did was cry, watch movies, or text Ari. The thought of my dad not wanting me still kept replaying in my head every single second. I felt a tear drop down my left cheek. God Davina grow a pair and stop crying like a baby. I looked at my phone and saw that it was 1:30pm. Great.. I wish it was night so I can just sleep it off.
Dad doesn't want me. Ace doesn't want me. I don't even want me. I'm being forced to marry the guy in a week and I know that the second we do, all he's going to do is use me for my body. I am not a toy he can just fuck with. pulled the covers up to my face and closed my eyes. A couple seconds later, I heard my doorknob wiggle. Then I heard someone knocking.
"Leave me alone!!" I shouted.
"Open this door before I break it tesoro." It was Ace. I tried to ignore and just buried myself under the black covers. That's when I heard my door break. What the fuck is this guy made out of, metal? I pounced up from my bed and saw Ace standing in the doorway.
"What the fuck is up with you?! Did you not hear me tell you to leave me alone?" I yelled. Ace looked at me concerned. He looked like he saw a dead body or something. I ignored it and pulled my covers back up to my face but Ace pulled them off of my body revealing my bare legs. I was still in black shorts and a black hoodie. My legs didn't look that skinny to be honest. But he looked at them like they were nothing but bones.
"I'm freezing Ace." He didn't care. He dropped the covers and picked my up and tossed me on his shoulders. Weeeee here I go.
"Ace I swear to the Gods of heroine if you do not put me down I will bite you butt cheek!" I kept slapping his butt until he put me down on the kitchen counter. Asshole. I crossed my arms and glared at him.
"First off, we have an event to go to. Your dad is hosting a birthday ball for your 18th birthday tomorrow. Second, you are going to stick with me because if your dad tries to even come close to you, I will kill him. And lastly, you are not leaving the kitchen until you eat." Ace gave me a massive smile. I rolled my eyes.
"First of all, my dad probably wants to say sorry and he just wants me back home. And secondly, because my dad wants me home, fine I'll eat."
Ace rolled his eyes and got some spaghetti noodles out of the cabinet.
"I can cook fore myself you know that right?" I giggled.
"Okay then. Cook." He tossed the noodles on the counter and threw his hands in the air. I tilted my head to the side and nodded. I got the pot of water boiling and threw the noodles in there.
"That's it? Move." He pushed me aside and got oil and salt out. He proceeded to add the oil and salt and then stared at me like I failed life.
"What? It would have been the same with or without those things anyway." I scoffed.
"You take that back Davina Di Angelo!" He gasped. I laughed and mocked him.
"You take that back".
"Do not mock me." He warned. I lifted my eyebrow up challenging him.
"Or what?" I asked. He came towards me and I ran to the other side of the kitchen table. He tried to chase after my but I ran to the other direction. He paused and ran the other way, but sadly I was too slow. He grabbed my waist and picked me up causing me to burst into laughter. He had his arms around me from the back and when we heard the noodles boiling, he pecked my neck and went to the stove. Why the hell was I getting butterflies from him? Maybe I did feel something with Ace after all. Maybe getting married to him isn't so bad. But then again, I doubt my father wants me to get married to Ace anymore.
I looked at Ace as he was finishing off the two plates of pasta. Damn he looked good. It looked good. The food. The food looked good. Shut up. He served me my plate and his next to my seat. I got a bottle of wine from his cabinet and poured two glasses.
"Is anyone else joining us?" I asked.
"Not that I know of my love." He replied. God that nickname. My cheeked felt warm and I knew I was blushing. I looked down to hide it and thank God he didn't notice.
We finished our plates and I was swirling my wine glass around. Ace and I didn't talk much, but he mentioned something about tomorrow.
"I'm wearing a black suit with a red tie. I expect you to wear something red as well." I nodded and smiled at myself.
"What's funny?" He asked. I just shook my head and smiled at him.
"Has anyone ever told you that your eyes are beautiful Ace?" I asked. He looked away and scoffed at me.
"Has anyone told you how honest you are?" He asked. I didn't get an answer, but I shook it off again. We finished up our food and Ace cleaned up after words. I headed up to my room and took a shower. When I got out, I put on a pair of grey sweatpants and a white tank top. I let my hair down because it was wet, and I couldn't be bothered to blow dry it. My room was pretty dark because it was around 8 at night now. I completely forgot there was a balcony outside of my room window, so I opened it and walked in front.
I took a deep breath and I could smell the fresh air. It was nice and relaxing. God everything was finally coming back to me. I get my family back, Ace seems to be warming up to me, I get to see Laura, Don, and Martinez again, and everything can finally go back to being normal 2.0. I went back inside and got into bed. A couple minutes later, I passed out.
Thank you so much for reading! Don't get your hopes up too much, Davina has no Idea what's coming for her.
