Chapter 8
(April's P.O.V.)
What the hell am I doing?
I'm being loud, obnoxious, and funny. This isn't how I'm usually like. I'm scared. Right now, I'm sort of kinda flirting with Nick Grimshaw. I don't date, I should know better. Because it's for the best.
No one can get hurt.
"So, do you have a job?" Nick askes me, pulling me out of my reverie. I glowered at him, as he flinched.
"I used to work for the Times. I got fired. I'm fine now." I half lied. I didn't tell him I worked at the Service, because law is that you're supposed to keep it a secret. Hence 'Secret' service.
"Hm. Did you enjoy being a journalist?" He asked, curious. Stiffly, I nodded as I folded my hands into my lap. "I have some friends over at The Sun. Maybe I could hook you up if you'd like." He offered. I couldn't believe my ears. Forgetting about ignoring and shutting myself out from him, I gaped at him.
"Oh god, you'd actually do that?" I gasped, my ears turning forward to eagerly await his answer.
"Yea, it seems like it suits you." He grinned. Maybe I could do with one more friend.
-----------------------------------------
"You mean to tell me that you got offered a position at the Sun?!" Lamb screeched at me, almost breaking a portion of my desk. I smirked, because I knew that Lamb praised the Sun, like it was the Bible.
"Yeah. My friend Nick Grimsha-"
"Nick Grimshaw?! No! Noooo!" Lamb cut me off, freaking out. She majorly worshipped him. I grinned as she started tugging at her fiery red locks.
"I've heard he prefers to be called by Grimmy. Is that true?" I inquired, as I crossed my arms over my chest. She nodded.
"What about the Service? You are enlisted here." A quiet voice spoke from the corner, only to see that it was Mally.
"Oh, I don't give a damn about the Service. I honestly fucking hate this place." I muttered, shifting around with my files. Until I found one that made me curious. It was a transfer file, for a certain Colin Mallory. Why was there a transfer file? I snatched it, and held it up. "Colin, what is this doing here?" I hissed. I never used his first name unless I was utterly pissed beyond words. Which is what I was feeling now. His icy blue eyes dilated in fear, but recovered quickly soon after.
"They probably missplaced the files, happens every once in a while. How about I take it, and p-"
"No. I'm in charge of all transfer agents. It'll lead me closer to my father's murderer. No sir, you won't be going any where with this" I waved the file around, "Until I've gone through it." I cut him off.
Lamb narrowed her eyes as Mally shooed her out of the office, afterwards locking the door. He turned and faced me. "You weren't supposed to find it." He growled, a whole new accent heavily lacing his words. He darted across my office and pinned me to my desk. Usually I wasn't scared, but he terrified me right now. My eyes darted around the room frantically, for something to fend myself with.
"You don't want to move much dorogoy," He purred, his face inches from mine. What the hell was going on? One minute he was all calm and chipper. But when I pulled out the file, he freaked out and now he's like this, along with this strange accent.
My eyes traveled to the cup on the corner of my desk. Slowly, my fingers crept towards the cup full of pens. In a quick stiff move, before Mally could figure out what was happening, I grabbed a uncapped pen, and poked him in the eye with it. He let out a howl of pain, as he released me. In a flash, I grabbed my stuff and the file, as well as giving Mally a good, hard kick for measure.
I ran out into the hallway, all the way down to crash into Chase. Her eyes grew wide as I started panting. I couldn't let Mally get to her, so I grabbed her wrist and dragged her out to the outside world of bleary London. I wouldn't stop until I reached an alleyway far away and safe from Mally. I didn't go to my flat since I knew Mally would try to find me there first.
I quickly filled Chase in as she gasped in horror.
"He came here a couple of days after your father died. That's all I can probably say about that file." She mumbled.

Cliffhanger! I'm so sorry this took forever to update and that it's short. Like really short. I'm so sorry. I had the worst case of writer's block.
Bad news. This story ends in April, I hope. Lol April and April is the main character's name.
Good news. I'm going on with Unforgettable in April, and I plan to finish it around late May, early June. The even better news. There's gonna be a sequel, from Rydar's perspective. In April or right after I finish this, I'm doing a Niall fanfic. The prologue is already up!
