Chapter 4: Oops?
"Just order anything you like, it's on me.", Martin, as a gentleman himself, offered cordially.
They are at the fast-food restaurant.
Martin stopped halfway to his neighborhood since it was the nearest to the school and Martin's favorite.
He also didn't want her to know where he lives, so he didn't go so much farther from the school.
"I can pay for my food, so no thanks."
Claire downright turned down his friendly offer with an eye roll.
Martin didn't mind her, though, he goes to the line. He's been feeling hungry since the afternoon, he has zero energy to argue with her.
"Usually, guys would insist to pay."
He heard her just after he went to the line, she was standing behind him and whispered obviously intending for Martin's ear.
Feeling pissed off by her irresolution, he turns to face her again.
If she wants him to pay, she should have agreed and not declined then criticize him for not insisting.
"I offered, you declined, now what's wrong with you?"
If he wasn't holding himself back, he should have been pulling his hair out of his head due to the headache she was causing him.
Let's not mention that he just met her earlier, now she was acting like he's her lackey or something.
"What's wrong with you?--that's the question. I was merely stating my observation, so what has got your underwear twisted?"
She looks at him innocently making him unable to think of anything to respond.
He looks at her deeply trying to ascertain her.
After seeing that she seems to not teasing him, he groaned mentally and reprimanded himself for being so oversensitive.
It was probably because he was so hungry and he can feel his brain cells being eaten.
He ignores her again.
When they finished ordering their food, they look around to find a vacant table.
"So, where do you live?", Claire asks the moment they settled down at the table.
Martin thought, why is she pushing it?
Wasn't it enough for him to give her a ride to eat?
Besides, was she really expecting him to tell her where he lives? No way!
"It's none of your business. Don't forget to send my money back to me later. "
He ended up paying for both of them.
Turns out, she forgot to bring anything but her phone inside the restaurant.
How could she go inside a restaurant without cash or a card?
Then she went on false braggadocio telling him she would pay for her food.
Not to mention that she ordered so much more than what he ordered.
Where will she put all the food anyway? In her phone?
"Don't be so petty, I'll pay you when you tell me where you live."
She winked at him before raising her brow at him.
Martin thought this is why he thinks non-verbal communication won't work well with him, especially one from girls.
Is she making fun of him again?
"I'll tell you after you pay me."
Martin dismissed her like that and thought it was enough to shut her up, but he only hears her laughing cheerily while looking at him.
"Or I can just put a tracker somewhere in your car."
"Good, so I can call an authority on you?"
"I'll just tell them I forgot my 'thing' in your car. What else?"
"Are you saying you don't intend to pay me, after all?"
"I'll pay you back for sure. So, where do you live."
They just went in circles.
"Gosh, I think my head would split the more I speak."
Martin whispers, more to himself than intending for Claire to hear it.
Why is this girl punishing him like this?
He never met someone so hardheaded as she is.
"I mean, it's not my fault that I'm persuasive or something, so either you tell me or I'll find it out myself."
"You don't have business finding where I live, it's my privacy."
"It is now."
When did it become her business?
They barely know each other!
"Order for number 46?" They heard from the intercom.
Martin gave Claire a look before going to the counter to get their orders.
When Martin was walking back to their table he saw Claire taking picture of him-- as it seemed, she didn't even bother to hide it.
"If you are by chance taking pictures of me in it, I will have to ask you to delete it at once."
He properly set the foods in front of her before he set his foods then he sat on his seat.
Claire watched Martin setting her food properly on their table; she found him very accommodating despite the fact that all she has done the whole evening was tease him.
She suddenly felt guilty, but she still not gonna delete the pictures she took.
"I'll blur your face when I post it online."
She saw his eyes narrowing and he immediately shoot her a glare.
Oops? Too much?
It doesn't work on her though. Like, if anyone wants to scare her, they gotta do something aside from glaring at her, it doesn't work on her.
"I'm warning you, Claire; don't test my patience."
His voice was deadly cold, but it only did a little shake on her heart.
She admits he's very dangerous looking when he's glaring at her; his jawlines are more defined when he clenches his jaws, which urges her more to make fun of him.
"I only have five followers and I won't ask where you live if I can keep one photo, deal?"
"Fine,"
