*Rose's POV*

I pulled up to the restaurant, and double checked the address that Miles had texted me. This was the right place, but it didn't look at all like I had expected. It was a beautiful place, built high with a marble entryway. All of the cars in the parking lot looked still new, and my beat-up minivan looked ancient in comparison. I texted Miles, double checking that I was in the right place. I was. He had instructed me to come in the back door. I walked around the building, and saw a black door propped open with a woodblock. I entered what appeared to be a storage room, holding all different things from bowls and mixers to boxes upon boxes of pasta. I reached down into my bag for my phone to text Miles, and as I did, I heard his voice calling to me. "Rose! Come on in!" He was sitting in what looked to be an office, probably meant for Miles' dad, since he owned the place.

"Miles, this place is beautiful." Rose remarked sincerely. I sat down in one of the chairs at the desk. Miles eyed my action, and then grabbed my hand.

"We're not eating in here, come on, I reserved the best booth." He led me to a booth tucked away in the corner farthest from the grand entrance. The section was elevated , so we could see all that was going on below us. A slim man dressed in fancy attire approached our table.

"Miles, buddy, how you doing?" he asked, in a voice that belonged in a completely different world than the one attached to the restaurant.

"Doing well, Eddie, doing well. As you can see, I've got a lovely lady here with me tonight, so if you could get us two orders of my regular, please?"

"No problem, man. Hey, maybe we can catch up later?" Eddie asked.

"Of course, see you later!" Miles grinned, then explained to me. "Eddie used to be my best friend when I spent all my time at the restaurant. He ate here all the time, and I was here, so we got close and I got him a job here, but I haven't seen him in forever."

"Thats so nice of you! What's this 'regular' that you're talking about?"

"It's my favorite meal they make here- you'll see, it's delicious."

I looked down on the diners, all of them dining on food that looked incredible. My gaze wandered over to the door, and I saw a mop of curly hair that looked utterly familiar. Marcel? He was escorting someone just quite out of view. It must have been Ryleigh! Yes, tonight was his first date with her.

Miles stared at me intently, then waved his hands in front of my face. "You okay?" he asked, bringing my mind back to the table.

Smoothening out my shirt, I answered, "Yeah, yeah, I'm totally fine, sorry. Um, will you excuse me?"
