*Marcel's POV*

"I don't even know how it happened- I'm not even sure I can talk to her again, she's way out of my league!" I blurted out, resting my feet up onto Jake's desk. He was lying across the room on his bed. We had finished the project the other day, but surprisingly we had formed a friendship, and we'd been hanging out a lot recently.

"Listen, not anymore. I did a pretty good job making you over- you're the talk of the school, all thanks to me."

"I definitley owe you. And even if that's true, how am I supposed to suddenly be able to socialize? It's an impossible task. I should just cancel it. It was a stretch she even said yes, but I doubt she'll want to go out again after I screw up at our dinner."

"Marcel, the secret is you just imagine her as a person you are completely comfortable with. For me, it's my mom. Who is it for you?"

"Rose." I replied without a moment's hesitation.

"Good. Then imagine you're talking to Rose. Once the conversation picks up, you'll be fine, trust me." Jake reassured me.

I leaned back in his desk chair, sighing. Tomorrow night was one of the biggest nights of my life- I couldn't mess up. Ryleigh was the girl of my dreams, and I had gotten her.

I pulled at my sweater around the neck. It was a bit itchy, but I was comfortable in it. Jake had tried to get me to wear my white tee with my skinny jeans. I promised him the skinny jeans, but I managed to weasel my way out of wearing the white shirt. I wanted to look nice for my first date with Ryleigh.
I was taking her to Alfonso's, a small Italian restaurant the next town over. I was picking her up at 5:30 , and I made sure to get there exactly on time. There were no cars in the driveway, so I was a bit hesitant to go up to the door. I rang the doorbell and a loud, echoing sound permeated the air. The door swung open swiftly to reveal Ryleigh, wearing a form-fitting black dress and clutching a small bag in her right hand.

"Marcel, hi!" Ryleigh leaned in and gave me a small hug.

I was at a loss for words. My brain was disconnected from my mouth. I managed to stumble out a "You look amazing," before leading her to the car.

Just as I was about to go around the car, I scurried back to the passenger side to open the door for her. As I got into my seat and gripped the steering wheel, I felt my hands begin to sweat.

"So where are we going for dinner?" questioned Ryleigh.

"A little Italian place called Alfonso's."

Ryleigh pondered the name for a moment, then said, "Oh, I think I've been there..." her thought trailing off into the sounds of the street.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I saw a car that bore a striking resemblance to someone's that I knew, with a matching "I brake for all creatures!" sticker on the bumper.

I escorted Ryleigh inside, and I spotted a familiar face once inside- Rose.
