Caitlin woke up, as sunlight streamed through her window. She gently put weight on her foot, to see if she could walk on it, but luckily everything was fine. She felt no pain whatsoever, and managed to get ready and go downstairs without any pain
"How's your foot?
"Better"
Caitlin sat with her brother eating breakfast. Caitlin felt like someone was looking at her, so looked up, but nothing
"Right, me and my brother are going to explore the town. Mum, is that ok?"
Caitlin ran upstairs to get her bag, and ran back downstairs
"Ready?"
Her brother offered his arm and off they went
Caitlin was loving exploring. The town had changed so much, since she had last been here, so she was loving exploring all these new places and things. Her brother watched her with a smile on his face. It was good to see her happy after everything. She had been blamed for something that wasn't her fault and if she hadn't left town, she would have probably been driven out he thought. Caitlin saw him watching her
"What?"
"Nothing. It's just nice to see you happy again, after everything"
"I'm not that person anymore. Being away from home and everything that happened forced me to grow up quickly"
"Is it strange being back?"
"Sort of. I can't change what happened or what everyone else thinks, but I'm so happy that I'm reconnecting with you and mum. I don't care about anyone else"
"What about him?"
Caitlin froze. Their it was. The question that everyone had been dying to ask, since she got here
"Why does everything I do have to be about him? I told you I'm not back for him. I came back to see you and mum, but if even you think like this, then what was the point of me coming back? I might as well have never come back"
"Don't be like that"
"Well then don't say anything like that. Now come on, we have a town to explore"
Her brother smiled as Caitlin grabbed his hand and pulled him towards her. They had a great time, exploring everything, eating ice cream, going on rides, eating candy floss. All too soon it started to get dark and they headed back
"Good day?"
"Wonderful. I love how this place has moved on with the times, unlike ours"
Barry walked in later
"Where have you been? I was worried" said Iris
"I don't need you to be worried. I just had some stuff to do"
"On holiday?"
"Yes iris. I know that is a foreign concept to you, but some people have work"
Caitlin was curled up with a good book, still trying not to laugh at Barry's outburst at iris, when she heard iris yell
"No, Barry's a genius at chess. Let's play and he can show you"
"Yes we know. He's been beating us since we were little"
Barry looked at Caitlin. Unknown to everyone, Caitlin was the real mastermind behind Barry's wins. She would help him win every time using her eyes, gesturing to the next move. Barry was in a tight spot, would Caitlin still help him after everything or would she let him be found out for the cheat he was? Barry was looking at Caitlin, pleading with his eyes. Caitlin got up and sat opposite Barry. She helped him win every single game
"See i told you my Barry is a genius" said iris, hugging Barry
Caitlin walked outside. She had no idea where she was going, she felt suffocated in that house? Why had she come back? Nothing had changed. Everyone still hated her for what she had been made to do. Of course nobody had ever bothered to come to her, and find out what had really happened, they just assumed that she was a cold and heartless person after what she had done. She sat down on the sand, watching the waves. She got up and went to the ocean, and took off her ring. She kissed it
"Goodbye. I know what you meant"
She threw the ring into the ocean and went back to sitting in the sand, watching the ocean. She felt a warm body sit next to her
"Can I help you?"
"I just wanted to thank you for helping me"
"I didn't do it for you. I did it for myself. If you had suddenly started losing, everyone would know something is up. How long before they would work out that I was involved? Helping you win?"
Barry watched the ocean
"It's symbolic of our relationship, the waves"
"Yes. Sometimes stormy, sometimes calm"
"Caitlin, what happened to us?"
"The first real storm in our relationship we couldn't weather. It tore us apart"
Barry was just about to respond when Caitlin grabbed his hand
"Barry, that guy is drowning. We need to get help"
"You call an ambulance. I going in"
Caitlin quickly rang an ambulance from her phone, then silently watched as Barry managed to pull the man out. She quickly gave the man some cpr, and then watched as the paramedics took over
"You did it Barry" said Caitlin turning around. Barry was collapsed next to her. Caitlin quickly knelt down and began cpr
"Come on Barry. Breathe for me"
Barry lay motionless. Caitlin slapped him
"Come on Barry. Don't you dare leave me again. I won't survive"
