"My parents? What do you mean?"

"Nothing. Forget I said anything"

"No, I want to know what you meant"

"Just forget it. You won't be able to handle the truth"

Caitlin tried to run away, but Barry caught up with her. He took them both into a classroom and locked the door

"Barry, what are you doing? My brother is waiting for me. I need to go home"

"No one is going anywhere until you tell me the truth"

"I told you, I have"

"No tell me what you meant by my parents being involved"

"I told you, forget it"

"Fine, then no one's going anywhere"

"You won't believe me"

"Try me"

"Your parents never liked me. They tried multiple times to break us up. They even offered me bribes to leave you"

"This can't be true"

Caitlin held up her hand

"Look you wanted the truth and I'm giving you it. It might be uncomfortable but I'm telling you it. So please don't interrupt"

"Go ahead"

"The accident provided them with the perfect opportunity. They told me that unless I left you, they wouldn't get you treated"

Barry tried to speak, but Caitlin held up her hand

"I didn't want to leave you, but I had no choice. I wanted you to get better but they wanted it on their terms, so even though it hurt me, I walked away. At least this way, you were still alive. Free to hate me, but still alive"

"I can't believe your blaming my parents for this. Why would they do this? Why would they risk my life?"

"Well you wanted the truth and I gave you it. I know that you won't believe me, I mean why would you? No one likes to think that their parents are capable of this. But it's the truth and the only thing that I can give you"

Barry said nothing as Caitlin walked past. She unlocked the door and was about to go, when she turned

"One more thing Barry. I love you, I always have. I just hope it's not too late by the time you open your eyes and see the truth"

Caitlin ran and found her brother

"Let's go home. This night turned out differently then I thought"

All the way home, her brother tried to get some stuff out of her. Like what happened, what did they talk about? Caitlin said nothing and just said she was tired and wanted to go to sleep. Caitlin opened the door to the house and just ran upstairs and quickly changed and collapsed into her bed. What an eventful night it had been she thought. Her tears threatened to spill, so she pushed them down hard. She didn't blame Barry for not believing her, she wouldn't too if she was in his shoes, but it still hurt. She didn't know if there was any way back for them, after this. She drifted off into an uncomfortable sleep

Barry was walking around. He didn't know where he was going, he just needed some space to process everything. What had just happened? Why did Caitlin blame his parents for their break up? She was the one who said that she didn't love him, so why try to blame others?  Unknowingly he had found himself at their place. He went in and looked around. Everything was exactly the same. He hadn't been back here, since she had broken his heart and split with him. He climbed into the bed their and tried to sleep. It was no good, he could still smell her in the sheets and pillowcases. She was everywhere he turned. He remembered how she would squirt her perfume everywhere, so that he would never forget her, incase anything happened

Barry stumbled home in the morning and collapsed onto the sofa

"Barry, what happened? Where were you last night?"

"You were right"

"About?"

"About Caitlin. She didn't care for me at all"

"Barry, we tried telling you that from day one. But you refused to listen. She had you wrapped around her little finger"

"She's sunk to a new low"

"Really?"

"She blames you for our breakup. She says you made her split with me, that if she hadn't, you wouldn't have got me treated"

"You are right. This is a new low even for her. Why wouldn't we get you treated? Your our son. She left you because she couldn't cope with how the accident might effect you and change you"

"I know. I'm sorry. I should have listened to your warnings about her. But I was young and naive and hopelessly in love with her. Can you ever forgive me?"

Caitlin spent the next few days in bed. She had a nasty cold and was trying to deal with everything that had happened with Barry. She allowed no visitors and rang downstairs when she needed something. Was this the extent of your love Barry? Was this how much you trusted me?

Duff duff duff. Oh no what have I done? Will they ever recover from this? As always, feedback appreciated q
