"Good night," Erwin wished his roommate once they turned off the light.

"Yeah, whatever," Levi mumbled, curled up under a blanket.

Vampire's heart was beating too fast for him to fall asleep. He tried to calm himself down, but it seemed impossible. No matter how many deep breaths he took, no matter how many layers of warm blankets he added, his body was still extremely tense. He was stressed while having no idea why. It was so frustrating. He was exhausted from the fight and he needed to rest!

"Are you all right?" the merman suddenly asked. After listening to the vampire changing his potential sleeping position every five minutes for the past hour, he decided to speak up.

"Yeah," the raven lied.

"You can't sleep," Erwin concluded as long as Levi was not willing to say it out loud. "You don't have to worry, it's normal."

The vampire did not answer, so the merman continued:

"Let's try something, it might help. Turn around and open your eyes so you see me."

"That's dumb," Levi executed Erwin's suggestion before doing anything.

"Just try it. It's not like you have anything to lose, do you?" the blond man pointed out and Levi growled in irritation. He sometimes hated his roommate so much. Nevertheless, he actually turned around and looked at him.

The uneasy feeling in his chest disappeared. Just like that.

"What the...?" the raven did not understand, staring at the man in disbelief. Was Erwin a wizard too?

"Better, right?" the blond man smiled. "This is caused by the recently created bond. You need an assurance I am all right or else you won't find peace."

"Great, now I have to learn to sleep with my eyes open?" the vampire hissed, cursing his Ackerman blood.

"Assurance can have many forms. Hearing my heartbeat should be satisfactory enough," the merman suggested, however, Levi turned around. He was not going to do something so stupid. Unfortunately for him, his body become painfully stiff once again.

"I swear, if this is just some mermaid magic you are using to make me come near you, I'll kill you," the raven gave up eventually, standing up.

"It would be very unwise of me. After all, you are still a dangerous vampire," Erwin reminded him, listening to slowly approaching footsteps.

He moved and made space for his roommate, hoping it would be enough for both of them. When Levi crawled on the set up couch, it turned out it really was enough. The vampire was pretty small.

"I don't think you will need to hear my heartbeat. Me breathing in and out should be sufficient too," the merman concluded, and Levi agreed. He did not want to get too close to him. However, that changed with growling of vampire's stomach.

"Erwin..." he whispered, turned and opened his eyes. Merman's face was horrified. He totally forgot the vampire would be starving after an exhausting fight.

"I'm hungry..." the raven kept on whispering.

"Levi, I am sure you can suppress it. You are not the uncontrollable young vampire anymore..."

"Unfortunately, Erwin, I still am," Levi corrected him, and the blond knew it was true. His roommate was still new to all of this, despite a few weeks of learning.

"Levi, just wait until we return back to my apartment. We still have some leftovers in the fridge..."

"I am fed up with the leftovers! Blood of someone I don't know is not thrilling at all," the vampire complained, pulling closer to the merman, who was backing up at the same time.

"It's not supposed to be thrilling, it's supposed to keep you alive," Erwin whispered, partly paralyzed by fear. He grabbed Levi's shoulders to keep him away.

"What's up with the serious face? Come on, darling, you are no fun!" the raven whimpered, his eyelids dropped slightly more than usually.

Erwin did not know why, but in that moment, the creature in front of him appealed unbelievable attractive. He was beautiful, young and in need. Exactly, he was in need, desperate. He was willing to do anything to fulfill his horrible thirst. That was when Erwin realized giving up was the safest option.

"All right, you may have my wrist," the blond man agreed with a sigh. The vampire took the hand he himself earlier wrapped in bandages. He tore them down, revealing the wound. It was no longer bleeding, which changed right after Levi buried his fangs into Erwin's soft skin.

Hearts of both men were racing. One from excitement, the other from fear. While Levi felt indescribable pleasure, Erwin was tearing up due to pain and discomfort. He clenched his teeth, trying not to make any noise. His eyes here tight shut when the first tears made their way on his cheeks. The pain was so uncomfortable he could hardly believe his sweet Levi was causing it.

"I think... it's enough... I can't..." the blond whispered, caressing the black hair. His vision was starting to get blurry. He could only hope the vampire heard him through all the delight.

It was merman's whimpers that made the vampire stop. He was now fully aware of what he did. He felt guilty to the point he was scared to look Erwin in the eye. Fortunately, the blond did not fail to see his struggles again.

"It's all right, you now have to be strong for both of us," the merman justified vampire's actions. He then patted his head, smiling lightly. Levi got up without a word and found the first aid kit. He nursed him just like he did before, maintaining as quiet as a mouse.

"Don't feel bad. It was only a matter of time," Erwin tried to silence Levi's remorse.

"I feel sick," the vampire whispered, leaning forward in pain. He had no idea what was happening. Again. The only thing he could do was to hunch and wait until it stops.

"It might be caused by the fact you attacked your host," the blond man concluded a bit too coldly in the contrast of the current pitiful situation. He then shook his head, pulled closer and hugged his roommate, making him hear his heartbeat.

"But you don't need to worry. You didn't hurt me. I'm still alive, here and with you," Erwin assured him, smoothing vampire's back. He was not talking directly to Levi. His words were meant for his Ackerman subconsciousness, which felt the need to protect him at all cost.

And it seemed to work as the vampire was slowly becoming less and less tense. In the end, he looked up at Erwin, his lips resembling something close to a smile.

"Better?" the merman smiled as well. His roommate did not answer, he only pulled away and kept on eyeing him. Erwin saw he was desperate despite Levi's effort to hide it.

"I think we should sleep," the merman suggested and lied down. The raven did the same, staying close to the blond man. Levi was facing him with no intention to turn around. He needed to be sure the merman was all right. And so Ackerman fell asleep, listening to the steady breathing of his precious Erwin.
