Chapter 23

To say Louis is confused when they all attend the dinner is an understatement, Louis is treated like a king and everyone is doting on him, which he finds uncomfortable, he gets enough of that from the boys and Harry. He's treated like royalty and the centre of attention by the most important people of the underground.

Harry is so proud and loves showing Louis off, Louis does Harry proud and Harry thinks himself so lucky to have Louis. Louis halfway through the night is feeling completely overwhelmed and wanders off to the toilets for a quiet few minutes alone.

Scott of course follows him, at Harry's ask but Louis is oblivious. Scott waits outside the toilets for Louis but after five minutes he senses something is wrong so he enters the elegant toilet to find Louis.

Scott finds him sitting on the sink looking at his hands, Scott locks the toilet door and his demeanour softens. He makes his way over to Louis and sits up on the sink too.

"Little overwhelming?" Scott asks

"Hugely, Scott, I feel like a fraud" Louis says

"Why on earth do you feel like a fraud?" Scott asks

"Because, these people live and breathe the underground world, live and breathe Harry and every single thing he says, he's literally royalty and I'm not good enough for that" Louis says looking down.

"Louis, that's....I...I don't think you really understand how big of a deal you are to people" Scott says

"No scott, I don't, I really don't understand, I'm not even part of this world, I wasn't born into this I'm a ring in, a muggle in the underground world" Louis says trying to get Scott to understand

"Well that's not entirely true" Scott says

"What do you mean?" Louis asks curiously

"Darling, Your dad didn't get the chance to tell you everything before he died" Scott says.

Louis doesn't know if he can handle any more secrets

Just as Scott opens his mouth to explain there is a knock at the door. He goes to answer and sees Harry worriedly looking for Louis.

"He's here, sorry, he's just having some time out" Scott says

"Is he okay?" Harry asks

"He might need you, he thinks he's not good enough for you, for everyone. Called himself a muggle of the underground world" Scott explains

Harry can't help but smile slightly

Harry walks in and Scott again locks the door as he and Harry both move to sit on the sink, either side of Louis.

"A muggle of the underground huh" Harry smirks as he swipes Louis fringe off his forehead

"Don't laugh it's true" Louis says

"I was just about to tell him, might be better coming from you though" Scott says to Harry

"What is it! I don't know if I can handle more" Louis says

Harry looks to Louis sympathetically and sighs.

"Darling your mum and dad were both born into the underground, My parents were your godparents and our families were so close" Harry says

"Wait? I knew you? Before?" Louis asks

"I was 10 when you were born 18 when your mum died. We used to attend family dinners and everything together, we weren't close but I always thought you were cute" Harry chuckles.

"Why, why don't I remember!" Louis asks

"Because you were little, and like your dad said, you blocked out a lot after your mum died" Scott says

"But your parents were way older than mine" Louis says

"Doesn't mean they weren't friends, they were only 10 years apart, like you, me and the boys, and look how close we are" Harry says

"Yeah, I guess, but I just don't feel like I fit in" Louis says

"That's understandable Lou, you were gone for years, your dad wanted you guys to disappear and you did" Scott says

"Something that runs in the family apparently"
Harry jokes

Louis smiles.

"Does everyone remember me? Out there?" Louis asks

"Your parents were important to the underground and extremely respected, especially your dad being my dads right hand man. Scott is the same to me, sometimes more respected than me because they are the protectors, the listening ears, the secret keeper, the brother for life. We would die for each other Louis and that's very well known and hugely respected" Harry says

"But my dad left your dad" Louis says

"He had too, to keep you safe and keep himself alive, my dad understood, they were brothers at heart and as hard as it was they had to let go" Harry says

"You won't leave will you Scott?" Louis looks to him to ask, he can't lose another person he loves

"I'm not going anywhere kiddo, you're stuck with me and Drew and I will protect you both to the ends of the earth" Scott says

"Well, just so you know, I would also take a bullet for you and Drew as well as Harry" Louis says and Scott smiles

"And you say you're not good enough for the underground" Harry says in jest causing Louis to blush

"You've definitely proven that already Lou, you've already done that, we probably wouldn't be standing here if it wasn't for you, just remember that okay " Scott says

Louis sighs and nods.

"Now come on, I ordered your favourite ice cream for dessert" Harry says

"Peanut butter and chocolate?" Louis asks excitedly, his eyes gleaming

"It's also Scott's favourite would you belive" Harry laughs

Louis smiles at Scott and he ruffles Louis hair.

"I love you Harry" Louis says as they are about to leave

"I love you baby, more than anything and I'm so thankful for you" Harry says

Louis smiles and they walk back out to the ball, Louis can't keep the smile off his face. He's so happy to have found Harry and the boys and he can't wait to see what the next few years bring together x
