Chapter 4

Louis studies the entire following day and doesn't leave the apartment, he notices that the Bentley is situated outside all day though and he just doesn't understand why. He tries to forget about it until that night when he brings it up with his dad.

"Dad, why is Mr Styles people, bank people following me and sitting outside the apartment" Louis says as he plays with his Mac and cheese for dinner

James was afraid the questions would start, he knew Louis wouldn't just let it all slide and he would want to know everything.

James sighs and looks at Louis, he doesn't want Louis to get caught up in the underground world, the less he knows the better, for his own safety.

"Harry, doesn't think our neighbourhood is very safe and just wants people out the front to make sure we are okay" James says trying to play it off.

"Is that why he offered us his apartment?" Louis says

"Yes, and I accepted, I hope that's okay. I want you safe Lou" James says.

"Look dad, I know perfectly well that you don't work for a bank, but I have no idea what you are doing or what's going on, and I really don't want to know, but please don't treat me like I'm a stupid kid who won't figure it out. No bank manager or owner, or whatever Harry claims to be, would go to this much trouble to make sure his employees are safe, it's outright ridiculous. Just tell me it's nothing illegal" Louis says upfront

James can't hide his smirk as he shakes his head, he knew he couldn't get anything passed Louis.

"It's nothing illegal I promise, but I do want you safe and moving is what we need to do first" James says.

Louis sighs, his dad does deserve a nice place, just because Louis doesn't want things to change. He can't deny that it would be nice to sleep a whole night not worried about the sirens going passed and someone breaking in.

"If we move, will they stop following me around?" Louis asks and James chuckles

"I'll speak to Harry okay" James says

"Will I have to move schools" Louis asks

"You hate that school Lou, would it be such a bad thing?" James asks

Louis sighs

"No, I guess just. I only have one year left, seems silly to move now" Louis shrugs

"That's true, Harry did offer to organise a lift every morning for you" James says

Louis can't believe this, it's just so weird and too much

"As long as you're happy Dad I don't mind" Louis says

"Your happiness comes first Louis and I know this new place and not working two jobs and running yourself into the ground is going to make so much difference. You can focus on University next year and being a teenager again" James says

Louis must admit that does sound good, but it just seems to good to be true.

Louis just nods

They go through their usual nighttime routine until James gets called out on a job.

"Lou, I have to head to work for a few hours, will you be okay?" James asks

"Umm sure, will you be gone all night?" Louis asks a little uneasy

"Just a few hours, I can tell Harry no?" James says, he doesn't want to make Louis uncomfortable

"No no it's okay, I'll be fine" Louis says.

James nods and gets ready to leave, he kisses Louis on the head goodbye.

"Be safe" Louis says sincerely
