Dangers of the Solstice Pt. 1

Bakugo's POV

When I come too, I find myself laying in my bed, Kitsuki is sleeping on a spare mattress on the floor. As I sit up, my head seems to be heavier than usual. I place my hand to the side of my head and let out a groan as I pull myself up, my bare feet connecting with the floor. I open my door, walk out and close it, before making my way to the common room. When I get there, I see everyone going about their day, with the exclusion of the pervert. I receive smiles from everyone.

Eijiro bounces over to me and I see a red raw, cut running along his face, dried blood moving along the length. I must look so stupid right now as my hand moves to his face and my fingers lightly touch his cut. As soon as my fingers make contact, I flinch them away. I look down to my hands and squeeze them into fists.

"I'm so sorry, Ei. I- I didn't mean to do it. You've suffered so much already. You lost your mother, you're blind in one eye, you had to suffer the homophobic behaviour from Mineta and now this...?! I'm a horrible boyfriend. I don't deserve your love..."

"Kat! Please! Don't deserve your love?! I know I've been through a lot in the past few weeks but it when it passes, I know that I've grown stronger from it. And you will too. Trust me."

He plants a kiss on my lips. I hear something on the news and I become interested by it.

"Hey! Round Face! Can you turn that up?!" I walk over to the sofa as she does so. A news reporter is on the screen and she's in a park.

"Well, that time has come again once more! The Full Moon Solstice! Tonight the Moon will be bigger than ever. This year, the students of UA High will have the privilege of having the moon right above their school! Boy I wish I could be there right now!"

I stumble back slightly and lock eyes with my brother, whom has just gotten up but was able to see the news report. The Solstice was tonight. And it was going to be right above the school. I stalk over to my brother, grab him by the upper arm and drag him into the kitchen.

"We have to get outta of here...!" I panic.

"But we can't be outside with the exposure of the moon otherwise it's just going to be a repeat of last time...!" Kitsuki matches my tone.

"It's a risk we might have to take, Kit...! If we stay here, then we will just put everyone in danger." I look at all of my classmates as I continue, "I don't want to hurt them. They've already seen what happens during the week of the solstice but they haven't seen what happens on the actual night. Any other time it would be fine but the light will be so bright that it'll be shining through the windows."

"... I'm scared Kat. It hurts enough when we change any other time but last time it hurt so much that it felt like I was being turned inside out and being set alight."

"... I'm scared too, Kit, but to me? It'll hurt more knowing that I purposely put my friends in danger and hurt them."

"... So what do we do?"

"Honestly? I don't know..."

I slide down the length of the cupboard till my ass hits the floor, Kit collapses next to me. I pull my legs to my chest and lean my head against them.

----- Tonight is the night-----

We're all in the training grounds, listening to All Might, while Kitsuki and Kasura watch from the stands. As All Might continues to talk, I start to scratch at my skin through my sleeves. I try to ignore it but it starts to get itchier and itchier. I let out a growl and start to scratch more furiously at my skin, scratching all over. I watch as everyone directs their attention to me. I let out a small smile and start to scratch harder and harder.

"You OK, Bakudude?" Soy Sauce asks.

"I'm-Fine! Just- Itchy."

"Your scratching like you've got fleas!" Dunce Laughs.

I growl at him and he stops immediately.

"Uh? Bakugo?" Mind Fuck questions. He had been transferred in immediately after the grape boy was suspended.

"Your teeth."

I run my tongue along my teeth and find fangs. Shit. I growl again and rip off my shirt and start to scratch more violently, leaving red welts along my skin. I fall onto my back and continue scratching. All Might Bends down next to me. Suddenly, my brain goes into canine mode and, although it's slightly embarrassing, my foot goes up to my ear and I start to scratch like a dog. I see how some of them want to laugh but then they immediately think twice about doing so.

Kirishima seems to be intrigued by my actions and he crouches down next to me, joining All Might. He reaches up and starts to scratch my head. I don't know why, but my whole brain seems to have rewired itself into a canine mode, as I let my tongue hang from my mouth and I enjoy the feeling. I hear him laugh, which causes me to blush.

"He's going CANINE!" Eijiro laughs again.

I feel ears emerge from my head and a tail emerge from my back. This is what happens every time. Kit and I start to act like dogs; we grow ears and tails. Our teeth turn into fangs and we basically act like dogs until the night has passed, but if we are exposed to the moonlight, we stay like that for about a month afterwards. That is what happened last time and it was extremely embarrassing.

Before I know it, Kitsuki has come bounding over to me, literally, and jumps at me. He starts to playfully bite at my ears and step on my tail, causing me to yelp. We start to roughhouse and everyone starts to laugh. Kit starts to whine and his ears droop and his tail falls between his legs. I stand before him, on all fours and snarl and growl at my class.

"We're sorry, Kacchan! But we've never seen you like this."

"He can't talk." Kasura says placidly. "Well... he can, but not properly. He talks like how a toddler would if they were just learning to talk."

"What do you mean?" Dunce asks.

"He and Kit have gone full canine. They'll both be like this until the Full Moon has passed, but if they are exposed to the moonlight like this, they'll turn into werewolves, again, but with zero sanity and bent on destroying the town. The city. For a whole. Month."

"WOW. Ok. So what do we do?" Ponytail questions.

"Treat Kit like you have been doing since we arrived."

"What about Katsuki?" Eijiro asks.

"Give him lots of attention and love."

I watch as Kasura winks at my boyfriend. I watch as Ei blushes deeply. As I watch him, I can't help but let my eyes wander to the massive scar across his cheek. I feel really bad and feel my ears and tail droop. I stand up and walk over to him. I lift up my hand and gently paw at his injury, letting out a small whine.

"It's OK, Kat."

"Hurt...?"

"No! Not at all."

The bell sounds and we all head back to class.
