2 years, it had taken him 2 whole years to tell me that he was in the mafia. He had joined the mafia, the group of criminals who murdered my parents. When I said that they died of disease, the disease was them. I understand the circumstances, but he could have atleast told me before, preferably about 2 years ago.
I look back up at him and a lone tear falls onto my cheek and even though what he did was foolish, he was still my best friend and at the moment I needed him, yes he betrayed me, but apart from him, I had no one.
I stumble back in shock when suddenly Vi jumps at me and wraps her arms around my torso. I feel her tears soak my shirt but I don't move away. I notice people starting to enter the building so I silently guide Vi out of the public's scrutinizing gazes. I decide to take the day off and together Vi and I head to her house. I hesitantly look at Vi and instantly regret it seeing her red puffy eyes, the way her lips were trembling and the storm brewing in those beautiful hazel eyes. We stay silent the whole way and once we are inside her small but homey apartment and once I make sure she has settled comfortably, I get up to go get her a glass of water which she accepts.
I really hate seeing her like this.
Numb. That's how I felt. Everything was a blur from the moment I threw myself at Taavin till now. I felt so tired, but I had so many questions to ask Taavin. Noticing my questioning gaze, Taavin turns to me and says. "Why don't you try to sleep? I haven't been able to sleep last night and considering your baggy eyes and how you can barely seem to keep them open, you haven't either." I hesitantly nod shying away from his knowing gaze and lay down in a comfortable position and watch Taavin do the same. I close my eyes and soon fall asleep knowing that soon I'll have the answers to all my questions.
As soon as Vi fell asleep, I sighed in content and closed my eyes knowing I needed the rest for all the questions that were to come.
