Sapphira POV
"Adria?" I said, turning around and facing that sweet voice.
"Am I dreaming?" Kira asked, feigning a surprised look.
"Oh My God!!! It's you. It's really you." I shouted as I ran to her and Kira followed.
"And Louis. Omg! I missed you!" Kira said as she hugged Louis and I also did as well.
"I missed you girls." Louis whispered to us. "But I think you better hug your other friend or else she'll go back to New York."
"I missed you, love!" I hugged Adria so tight with tears in my eyes. "God. If I knew you just need someone to get married for you to come home, I would've proposed myself."
"Always the over-sensitive. I missed you more." Adria said. "And you too." She said turning to Kira. "How long has it been since we all got together? 3 years? 4?"
"I don't care how long it has been. I just know that I'm glad to finally see you back here." Kira replied.
I notice the stares Felix is sending us. A stare that feels like it could kill you. Yep. Felix, me, and Kira being the only ones who stayed, became close friends again. We just don't mention Felix to Adria and vice versa but now, I feel like I'm the wall in the tension that has been building up since they saw each other. I interlocked my right arm to Adria and Louis left while Kira led us to the main room.
"Louis, meet Felix." I told him.
"So you're THE Felix" He said trying to intimidate him.
"Yes, I am. Sorry, who are you again?" Felix told Louis while trying to gesture that he's taller than him.
"Ugh. Men and their insatiable longing for power." Kira whispered to me and I laughed.
"Okay, Louis. Enough." Adria said and Louis followed; earning an eyebrow raise from Felix.
"Vermont, my love." I ran towards him and pecked him on his cheek and he blushed. Don't you love a man that still blushes after being together for 4 years? He ran his hand towards my hair and hugged my waist. "Let me re-introduce you to my friends," I said and dragged him towards them.
"Mont, this is my good friend Louis. He works with Adria in New York. Adria, whom you already met, as we all know. Kira and Felix, I'll actually be mad if you don't know them."
"Hi there. Nice to meet you, Louis. I'm Vermont but you can call me Mont." Vermont said as he reached his arm out for a shake. After shaking Louis hand, he gave Adria a hug, which surprised us. He whispered something in her ear that made her laugh and in that moment, I was sure that I was lucky to have found a guy like him.
Adria POV
"I missed you. I still can't thank you enough for introducing us." Vermont whispered to me and I laughed.
You might be wondering how I introduced them? Well...
*flashback to 4 years ago, December*
I actually saw Vermont sitting on a park bench while in New York and we got to talking. He is a sketch artist who also writes songs. He is also the son of a wealthy family, which he didn't specify. After opening up to each other and getting along, we exchanged numbers and I declared him as my new friend. Weeks later, at a Christmas gala, I saw him again, sitting alone at the bar.
"I wasn't expecting you here." I told Vermont.
"Same here." he said and laughed.
"So, tell me. Why are you here?"
"Well, I need to be since I'm almost the owner of the company."
"What? You're the owner of this company? You guys are one of my partners. How could I not know that."
"Maybe it's because nobody really notices me. My parents are the one who actually knows what to do about the company and actually care about the company."
"Come on, it's Christmas. Season of being jolly so stop being so grumpy."
"Actually, it's the season of giving."
"Why? What do you want?"
"You? Just kidding, though. I don't know. I guess I want a simple life with a simple girl who'll understand my humor and my life. A girl I can see a future with, not just some skimpy girl who just wants me because of my cash. Do you know someone like that?" He asked with hope filling in his eyes.
"I actually do know someone. She's a close friend; I've been with her since I was a kid. She's a simple girl with class, at the same time, I think your sense of humor matches with her. She'll visit me in a week. How about I'll call you then?"
"I think that would be great. Thank you so much." He said and gave me a hug which surprised me at first but relaxed into it when it lengthens.
"Now I hope you enjoy your Christmas, Monty. I'll see you when I see you." I said as I winked and turned my head back from him. He'll be the perfect match for Sapphira and I know it.
A week goes by and in Sapphira and Kiras second day here in New York, I called Vermont up.
"Hey, Mont. Remember that friend that I told you about?"
"Yeah. I've actually been waiting for your call." He replied.
"She's here actually." I put the phone beside Sapphiras ear and told her to say hi.
"Hi, the person to who I'm actually required to say hi to." Sapphira said laughing and I grabbed my phone back and rolled my eyes at her.
"Where actually are you?" He asked me.
"At the park where we met, actually."
"Wait for me."
After a few minutes, he arrived and saw us. While walking towards us, he was actually staring at Sapphira like he was memorizing her every move. On the other hand, Sapphira pretended to not see the guy who was staring at her and started a conversation with Kira.
"Hi!" He said to me, smiling then glancing back to Sapphira.
"Sorry, but do you need something from me?" Sapphira asked him with an eyebrow raised.
"uh... uhm... H-hi? What's y-your name?" Vermont asked Sapphira.
"And give me a reason why should I tell you?" She replied smirking which apparently was the go-to signal for Vermont as he moved closer towards her.
"So I know the first name to put with my last name." He said and for the first time ever, Sapphira actually blushed.
*end of flashback*
From that moment on, I knew I did the right thing and look at where we're headed right now? I thought, smiling the biggest smile toward the irritatingly sweet couple.
"Hi." That voice actually brought me back from my daydreaming to my present time. A voice that I once knew so well.
"Hi." I said back, not looking at him.
"How have you been? You never did answer my texts." Felix pondered.
"Yeah? Well, take a hint." I replied, finally facing him.
"I missed you." he said while looking intently at me and then standing up going somewhere I don't really know.
Those were the words that brought up every pain, every reason why I didn't really want to go back here. Those words used to bring me joy, it made me believe that everything was going to be fine. Now though, it brought back every tear and insecurity; the memories still feeling fresh after 8 years.
All those years trying to forget, wasted by three simple words.
