Revali flew down and landed on the floor of Hyrule castle, scanning the area.
Where is everyone? He thought.
"Greetings Revali." Someone said and stepped out of the shadows. "I am Princess Zelda."
"Greetings, your majesty." Revali said as he bowed. "May I ask, where is everyone?"
"Oh, no one is here yet except..." She glanced behind him and made a sour face. She tried to hide it, but Revali saw it. "Him."
Revali glanced behind her. A small Hylian was standing in the center of the room. Standing perfectly still.
Who is he? And what right does he think he has to stand in front of the king?
"Revali, please stand behind Link."
Behind? His thoughts echoed.
He just gave a curt nod and flew to his spot.
A mechanical bird was printed on this spot.
Like the one they're digging up a Rito.
A few minutes later, a tall muscular Gerudo stepped into the hallway, stopping for a quick chat with Zelda, then walking towards his left.
"Hello Vure." She said.
Vure?
"Hello." He said bluntly and turned to face the front.
"What is your name?" She pressed on.
"Revali. Now leave me alone." He turned again towards the front.
"Oh, by the way, I'm Urbosa. Chief of the Gerudo." Urbosa said casually. "I could literally fry you right now."
WHAT. She's seriously the Chief? I'd better train harder so I can prove I'm stronger.
"HELLO EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!" A shout came from the hallway. It was so loud Revali had to press his wings against his ears. And even that was no use.
"I'M DARUK!" He shouted happily.
Oi would he ever be quiet!
"WHAT'S YOUR NAME SMALL BIRD?" He yelled.
"Just be quiet." Revali snapped.
"HUH." He said, scratching his head. "THAT'S A WEIRD NAME."
"What?"
"Um, 'just be quiet' is a weird name."
"Did you seriously think that was my name? You are-"
Urbosa smacked him with her shield.
"NAH I'M JUST KIDDING!"
He laughed and smacked Revali so hard he fell.
"BUT WHAT'S YOUR REAL NAME?" He said, as if he hadn't smacked the life out of him.
"Revali. Now shut up." Revali snapped.
"You don't have to be so mean Vure."
"Oi, you've used that word twice. Is that an insult?" Revali snapped.
"No, It means bird. I'm just used to speaking our language." Urbosa said.
"YOU HAVE YOUR OWN LANGUAGE? THAT'S AWESOME!" Daruk yelled.
"Would you PLEASE STOP YELLING AT ME!" Revali said coldly.
"OKAY!" He shouted happily.
He was so dumb.
"I am going to my spot and staying there. I will NOT have more contact with all of you." Revali flew over to his spot and landed.
The door opened and a small Zora stepped into the light.
She had crimson scales, and a petite stature. Something that seemed so fragile. Her face was a perfection, to the last scale.
He wanted to slap himself. He shouldn't be gawking at a Zora!
She turned to face him, with warm amber eyes. Glinting in the light, they shone.
"Hello everyone, my name is Mipha." She said softly. "I hope we can have a lot of fun together as a team."
"GREETINGS SMALL ZORA! I'M DARUK! OVER THERE IS.... hmmmm. Lightning girl?" Daruk scratched his head. "UHHHHH SORRY, I CAN'T REMEMBER YOUR NAME."
Urbosa laughed. "It's Urbosa."
"YEAH. AND THE BLUE BIRD OVER THERE IS REVALI!" Daruk shouted.
"You don't have to be so loud." He said haughtily.
"Well, he's just excited." Mipha said.
"Wait, who's that dude?" Revali pointed at the hylian.
"Him?" Mipha asked. Her gaze was something that Revali hadn't seen much of. Love.
Why would she fall for him? He's just an ordinary hylian. Nothing special. He thought. But there's nothing special about you. You are a failure. A disgrace to society. Why would she fall for you?
"His name is Link." Revali snapped back into the real world at the sound of her voice.
"HIYA LITTLE GUY!" Daruk yelled.
"Did your brain wander off somewhere?" Urbosa asked Revali quietly. "You were staring at Miss Fishie over there."
Revali felt himself flush. "No, I just got distracted by-"
"Alright, I know. But I won't tell anyone, don't worry." Urbosa winked. "Your secret is safe with me."
Revali had never trusted anyone with secrets. His life was filled with secrets and masks. Hiding how much of a failure he had been. Masking his identity. Secrecy about his past.
"...Okay." Revali said carefully. "But if you tell anyone, I will hunt you down and shoot you with bomb arrows until you die."
"Sure thing, I'll keep that in mind." Urbosa grinned and went off to talk to Zelda
Was this a mistake? Trusting someone else? I wish mother were here to tell me something.
His mother hadn't shown up anywhere. Some other Ritos had seen dead relatives.
He always wondered if his mother thought he also was a failure. Just like his father.
He sighed and turned to face the king's platform.
