The tower bells tolled it's time, and Caroline ran home as fast as she could. The dusk skies had melted away the bright orange and pink sunset. All there was left was menacing clouds that were sure to carry endless night showers.
Caroline approached her home, walking up a few steps, and there she greeted her mother. "Vrutasia, why in Light's name are you late?" Her mother's voice demanding and loud. "The magic studies were holding be back a little more than usual mother...," her green cat-like eyes averted away from her mother's menacing stare.
"Mhm, of course. Well, if you come home later than the bell again, you will be having some fun time in the study room till your pencil runs down to the brim of the eraser." Her mother briskly walked away leaving the door open for Caroline to enter.
"That's the whole reason I was late, because of studies, you hag..." Caroline muttered under her breath as she slowly closed the door behind her.
Caroline is an apprentice sorceress, or at least that's what everyone out of the Coven believes. Truthfully, she is the new inheritor of the title "Lady de Vrustasia", a status only given to the leader of the Coven.
A Grand Witch and the beholder of the unique magic pool of limitless mana, but a short life as the cost of it. Which was the reason the previous leader, Grandelle passed away at 127. Barely an adult in Witch life.
Caroline, however, has the littlest clue as to using her magical abilities. She doesn't even know how to enable a wand, or even properly engrave a rune. However, when she does, she'll come to rule the Coven of Grandiss. Though, the Coven has patiently waited for her to mature and many have begun to doubt such a future.

Caroline walked to her room with a bit of a slump. Frustrated that her mother yelled at her for being five minutes late at the most, there was no satisfying the woman with her endless expectations.
Caroline was adopted, and her struggle to love or hate her adoptive mother has not been easy. Her birth-mother, Grandelle, left her with the Coven's most responsible council member, Velisia Ravenwing. Despite her rather demanding demeanor, she makes the perfect mother for a soon-to-be Grand Witch. Although, Caroline seems to be less of trouble child and more of let down as the years go by.
Caroline sat on her small bed, the room was dark and the sheets were cold. She laid stretched across the mattress, her body aching from the constant training they had at the academy. She was the weakest and least powerful out of the Girl Division. Even if you jumble up the boys along with the girls, she'd still be the last one on the list out of all students combined. She was well painfully aware of it as well.
"There's nothing more frightening than seeing a Grand Warlock from a really reputable coven eye you down the hallway," Caroline sighed with obvious distress in her voice.
"Warlocks are nothing, just a bunch of demonic lovers, so just ignore their maliciousness," A slim tabby cat with emerald eyes purred at Caroline as he wrapped around her head.
"Gee, I really wonder Sebby. Some Warlocks are more than just demon worshippers, well that's what I want to believe. Oh, like Grand Warlock Thrandris, he's pretty spiritual."
Sebastian scoffed, "Spiritual with the dead. Believe me Vrutasia, I know much of Warlocks. They're icky bastards, with sly intentions." Caroline raised a brow and took Sebby's comment with some slight thought.
"You're just a kitty Sebby, anything that doesn't treat you nicely is a icky bastard," She rolled over and pulled up her comforter over tiresome body. "Good night Sebby."
She couldn't waste anymore time as the minutes ticked by. She needed rest for the tedious days ahead of her, and her worth was on the line.---
HEY GUYS :) If you're wondering why Caroline is referred to as Vrutasia, that's her second name. Caroline (de) Vrutasia Grandiss. Although her real name is concealed to folks outside the Coven. So, her alias is Caroline Ivanov.
