"I still can't believe your that awfully young, Doctor," I sat, bewildered, left with my questioning thoughts as to why a guy only two years older than me was already a doctor and a Dispeller at that.
"Hm, yeah, I mean I never tell anyone my age," He spun in his chair, laughing away, "They all think I'm a dirt-old Dispeller with killer looks, hopefully."
He then shot a quick look at me, halting his spinning, "Don't ever call me anything else but Dr. Aragon, though. Just because we're in the same age range doesn't change the status in our professions, got it?"
I nodded, slowly. I knew that would eventually change once my mother heard the news of my magic, potentially, activating.
The title of Grand Witch is that almost similar to a president, or leader in a country. Especially if your Coven was one of the first in existence. Though, I didn't let titles make me feel prideful or let it get ahead of myself.
A sudden burst through the doors behind me revealed the guards from earlier, hauling in unconscious bodies, guilt filled me whole.
"Do you know how many times we kept dozing off every time we approached them?!" One of the guards shouted as they placed one of the bodies on a medical bed next to Dr. Aragon's desk. Then, the other guard proceeded to do the same thing with the other two bodies. I immediately recognized Julien, and I saw him squeeze his eyes in discomfort. My heart nearly dropped, I couldn't believe I did such a thing to such an important, and dangerous person.
Once everyone was placed on a bed, they all began to make uncomfortable sounds. They all slowly woke up and realized the situation they were in, and of course me being at fault, they began to spew questions at me.
The one I couldn't help but worry about the most was Julien.
"Are you plotting against my family's name or something! How dare you—" Julien's harsh remarks were immediately cut off by Dr. Aragon, "Calm down, Mr. Castell. I wouldn't dare think such a clumsy, dumb girl would want to plot your family's demise."
Although Dr. Aragon's words were just as harsh as Julien's, I just sat there and took it in. After all, he helped me out.
"Whatever," Julien scoffed. He pointed at Dr. Aragon's telephone, "I want to call my family. This won't go unnoticed or unpunished." Dr. Aragon showed a sympathetic look and mouthed, 'Sorry', before letting Julien use his telephone.
Within several minutes after Julien finished talking on the phone, which everyone spent that time outside the office for his privacy, I was called down to the Chairman's office.
The one place I dreaded to go to the most because I could already predict my downfall.
---
"Lady..." the Chairman, plump but tidy, sat in his burgundy leather arm chair, stroking his silvery mustache.
"Please, Mr. Chairman, call me Miss Ivanov," I pleaded.
He shook his head, while doing the same with his index finger, both in disagreement. "I refuse to disrespect you, Lady Grandiss. Your real mother would find much offense to that and I wouldn't want to disturb her spirit."
I bit my lower lip nervously, "Ah, um, okay. But most importantly, Mr. Chairman, what will be of my punishment?"
His lips pursed into a frown, "I'm afraid we will soon discuss that with the Castell's in a bit, Lady Grandiss."
His stare slowly averted to the large double doors behind me, and they swiftly opened with a loud thump against the walls.
"I refuse to let this go unnoticed!" A screechy female voice spoke aloud, and I refused to look behind me. Knowing very well if I did, that my eyes would be clawed out my Julien's mother, Lady Castell.
The Chairman nervously chuckled and gestured to the chair next to me, "Please, Lady Castell take a seat here," He let out a short sigh, "You as well, Mr. Castell."
The doors shut behind us with another ominous thump.
"So, whose the wenchy, bratty girl who caused my son to pass out in the courtyards—" Once Lady Castell sat in the chair next to me, she gasped in surprise.
"Lady Grandiss!"
I was immediately surprised and gaped my mouth at her, "Huh?!"
Julien shared the same countenance as I, "What did you just call her, mother?!"
That's when my mother burst into the room, "You called, Sir Chairman? Something to do—"
Lady Castell stood from her chair, looking back, "You as well, Miss Ravenwing?!"
Mother shared an affectionate smile, "Oh, it's been quite a while, hasn't it, Lady Castell?"
Mother and Julien's mom know each other?
And how does she know of my real name, Grandiss?
