I woke up to a roaring sound outside my window. Actually, it was a freight train sound. Suddenly, my dad burst into my room. Before I could grumble about knocking, he told me that there was a tornado. My mom, my dad, and I huddled in the hallway closet, scared out of our minds. The sound was faint, but still there. I texted Meg to see if she was alright. She lives in the same neighborhood as me.
--------------------------------------------
KINSEY- u ok?
MEG- Ya it's really loud. Gotta be close
KINSEY- Ya I think it was in the neighborhood I'm glad we're ok
MEG- ya
--------------------------------------------
Then, I texted Liz. She lives across the town from me.
--------------------------------------------
KINSEY- hey Liz. ur family ok?
LIZ- yeah we're good how bout u?
KINSEY- we'e good. it was really close to our house tho
LIZ- wow I'm glad ur ok
KINSEY- thanks

My family and I left the closet and we sat in the hallway for a few minutes. My dad left to help get people out of the rubble. Then it hit me, I hadn't texted Austin. After passing my house it must've headed straight for him. He only lived halfway across the town.
--------------------------------------------
KINSEY- you guys ok?
AUSTIN- yeah I'm in my church basement. your family ok?
KINSEY- yup were out of our closet now the biggest part has passed us.
AUSTIN- stay safe. I couldn't live without you
KRISTIN- you too. love you 😘
AUSTIN- love you too 😘

Once I texted all my friends, my mom announced that we were going to my grandmas house because the power was out and she has a generator. I packed my bag and we headed off.

A/N This chapter is based off of real life. A big tornado came two blocks away from my house yesterday and destroyed the traitor park in the back of my neighborhood. My house has minor damage but the whole city doesn't have power. The picture at the top is not my picture but it is the one that was near me.
