Chapter 5

Changbin POV:

It's been 2 years since Felix disappeared. I asked all around town to see if anyone knew him, I even gave descriptions of him. After all, there weren't many people with blond hair and freckles in Malvina. I tried my hardest, but after a while I just gave up. Nora tried her best to cheer me up and to help me move on, and eventually I did. I tried to focus more on the daycare but it became harder and harder as we started to get fewer customers.

And then, one day Nora came to me. With tears in her eyes she told me, "Binnie... We have to close down the daycare."

I hugged and comforted her, just as she'd done for me when I'd lost Felix. It was my turn to be there for her, so I decided that I would find a job to help provide for us. Nora had already found a job as a waitress, but it was far from enough to keep us going financially.

"There's an opening job for a babysitter." I told my sister one morning over breakfast as I scrolled online.

She looked at me with an unsure expression. "Binnie, you hate kids."

I put my phone down in frustration. "Yeah, but there aren't many places hiring right now. At this rate I'll never find a job."

"I told you not to worry about it. I can just get a second job to-"

"-Nora, I'm 19 now. I'm an adult. I need to get a job regardless, and I know how tired you are. You don't even get a full 8 hours of sleep at night, I'm worried about you."

She sighed. "Don't worry about me. Just find a job that you'll enjoy. Don't force yourself to work somewhere if you know that you won't like it."

She then looked down at her watch. "I should get going. See you tonight."

"Yeah, see you." I said as she grabbed her bag and walked out the front door.

I picked my phone back up and began to scroll through more jobs. That was, until a notification popped up on my phone.

I sighed. This was probably the biggest news that Malvina had received since the death of the king...... the death of the king... which was announced the same day that Felix had quit. I quickly stood up from the table as I began to feel a bit sad as the memory of my old friend came back to me.

I decided that I would go on a walk to clear my head. It had been years, I should just get over it.

Later That Night:

"Did you hear about our new princess?" Norah asked me as she sat on the sofa while scrolling on her phone. "This is the biggest news since the king's death."

"Yeah, I heard about it." I said to her as I walked over and sat next to her.

She turned to me excitedly. "Well, did you also hear that they're hiring at the palace?! They're looking to hire a new royal bodyguard for the princess."

I shrugged my shoulders. "Ok? What does that have to do with me?"

She rolled her eyes as she showed me her phone, nearly shoving it in my face.

"These are the requirements. You see? You basically have all of these down. You're strong and you have a pretty muscular build. You're 19 so you meet the age requirements of 18 or older. And you also took boxing classes for over 7 years so you're great at self-defense."
