"Good job on the tree Penny," Rhett comments as he enters the living room.
"Thanks, I had no help from Seb," Penny grumbles and I flip her off.
"I fucking supervised," I remind her and she smiles at me anyways, Rhett falls onto the other side of the couch with me as Penny lowers herself to the coffee table where it is trashed with our schoolwork or random paperwork from Rhett. The elevator door dings and I frown before turning my head to Rhett.
"Is anyone expecting someone?" Rhett asks taking his watch off. Penny immediately stands with a smile.
"You fucking finished it without me!" A gasp rings out.
Penny shrugs, "too slow I guess," Genevieve suddenly pops out from beside me and Penny takes the pizza box from her.
"I'm sorry," Genevieve begins to apologize as she strips off her coat, "I had a thing," she sighs making eye contact with me. She looks away from me and greets Rhett who returns the greeting. I put slide my legs off the couch and sit up allowing Genevieve to sit down.
Rhett leans forward and swipes a piece of pizza before excusing himself to make a call "want anything to drink?" My sister asks our guest, she responds with just water and a smile.
"You missed the whole tree decorating, what were you up to?" I asked leaning forward, placing my elbows on my knees. She brushes back her curly hair, I've come to know her hair falls in natural waves.
Genevieve puts her phone on the coffee table and sighs, "just you know, classic hospital meetings," she shrugs and turns to me, I narrow my eyes at her. "Do you go to AA meetings?" She asks lifting the pizza box as she lowers herself to the floor.
"No," I respond, Penny comes back immediately talking about how I didn't help with the tree and shit. I ignore the two girls gossiping and scroll through Twitter. Spencer was texting the group chat wanting to build gingerbread houses tonight, he leaves for Denver tomorrow afternoon.
"So I guess we're going to the boy's house?" Genevieve jokes walking into the kitchen.
"Spencer has shut the fuck up about gingerbread houses since he saw a YouTube video," I shake my head closing the fridge, I watch her throw away our garbage before turning to me. I gaze over her leaning back on the fridge, black jeans, a white turtle neck, and an oversized thick cream plaid jacket.
She smiles as I meet her gaze, "It's cute," she shrugs and I roll my eyes sipping on my water. "I'm heading out, Spencer wants me to make my s'mores dip."
"The one you made the other game night?" I ask and she hums.
"Did you drive?" She shakes her head. "I'll drive, it's fucking snowing outside," I comment.
"You don't have to Seb, I'm fine."
I scoff, "let me grab my keys upstairs," I tell her and she nods with a smile. I tell both my siblings I'll see them later and not to wait up, Genevieve meets me in front of the elevator and we ride down to the parking garage together.
"Are you going down to Maryland this Christmas?" She asks as the floor levels beep down.
"No, we're staying in the city. Just us three and dad," I grumble swinging my keys.
"Hmm sounds exciting," she jokes.
"It's like watching paint fucking dry, pointless but he specifically requested our weekly dinner to be on Christmas. How thoughtful of him," I grumble as the doors slide open, I let her step out first before I guide her over to my Rover.
"I love my grandparents and all but Christmas Day shouldn't end at seven pm," she chuckles as I unlock my car.
"Big dinner?" I ask her once we were inside, I immediately start the car and turn on the heated seats.
