Arkyn watched silently as Isak bid bye to his parents with promises of them visiting next week. He wishes he could hurt them now but it will have to wait. His father had a dream which he need to realize before he show them who he is and what he did to their precious Isak.

Maybe he is supposed to feel bad for dragging a non-party into the mess but he was also just like Isak when he lost his dad to the machinations of the royals who didn't even bother looking for them. People claim they are the kindest souls on earth but Arkyn knew better- he knew they are demons and he will punish them. Isak was silent as they drove home.

Well, at least he knew what is good for him. They reached home by noon and he went in without waiting for Isak. He needed to see his mom just to make sure she is well. He found her with Lucinda in her room, having her lunch.

He heard footsteps and realised Isak followed him inside. He looked at his mom.

"Momma, I and Isak mated. He will be living with us hereafter," said Arkyn. Isak was silent staring at mom whose face turned to something pleasant. How can she forgive that family so easily and accept Isak? He still doesn't understand why she is so forgiving for he can't. He wanted to hurt Isak till he begs and begs to stop. Maybe that makes him a demon but he doesn't care. He would rather have his revenge and be called a demon.

"Momma" he heard Isak call as he went on his knees beside him. There were tears in his mom's eyes which he wiped wondering what it is for. He hoped it is not for Isak. Lucinda left them to have a quiet moment with his mother.

Arkyn pushed Isak to the ground.

"Do not act like you give a damn about anyone who is not your family. You and your hypocritic family only give a damn about yourself," sneered Arkyn. He looked back at his mom who had disapproval in her eyes.

"Momma, I know you won't want me to do this but I want to inflict at least half of what we went through on his parents. They made you like this- reduced to a wheelchair. I can never forgive that Momma," he said as he laid his head on her lap. He felt a tear drop fall on his cheek from his mom's eyes. He closed his eyes.

"You are too kind. You are still crying for him. What about us? " asked Arkyn furious and he sat up and stormed out of the room.

"You are Papa's Aunt Liz, aren't you?" asked Isak to mom whose eyes were full.

"You know Papa and Baba looked for you everywhere as soon as they could. They knew you are innocent," said Isak touching her hand and holding it between his hands.

Isak got up and stepped out. This is his home now- his life. The life he chose with a man who would have grown up with him if Uncle Olaf had not backstabbed them. He knew the story only in bits and pieces but he knew. He was not aware of Uncle Olaf having a son though. He is sure it might be news to his parents too.

He found Arkyn in his bedroom and stepped in. The man was inside bath. Isak sat down on the bed, his eyes closed, trying to understand what went down in his life. He had thought that he found the man he was waiting for only to be a pawn in an elaborate game. One thing he knew, he won't let the man hurt his family, come hell or highwater.

He heard the sound of the bathroom door close.

"If you are done lamenting your foolishness, I need my bed," said Arkyn. To hear hostility in that tone was painful. The Arkyn he knew is kind and sweet- not bitter and angry.

He looked at the man, not registering anything for a moment. He only remembers seeing the hand swing before it hit his cheek. A numbing pain went across his cheek and he found himself moving mechanically. Did that actually happen? Did the man really slap him? His Arkyn?
