Love Matters

Love is strange. Esben doesn't know if its time to use words like 'love' but he is extremely fond of Magnor. The man was shouting at him right now for a lapse in security and Esben wanted to cry. He didn't want the man to be upset or angry. He liked some minor evasions in protocol just to remind himself that he is in control of his life still. Its stupid, he knew but some days are not good.

Magnor stormed out grabbing his coat as he left. Esben curled in his room upset and Jori brought him ice cream to help him.

"For the umpteenth time, I am fine," he growled at a knock on the door. All of them have been checking on him and it was starting to get annoying.

"Then why are you crying?" asked a voice he is very familiar with. Magnor stood there.

"You came back," he said surprised.

"Of course, I did. You are not just for my boss for me to leave annoyed and come back next day," said Magnor walking over and sitting next to him. Esben climbed into his lap.

"I know I am a little too much. But I don't know any other way to be," said Esben.

Magnor wiped his eyes and pulled him close. Esben flushed as he felt the arm firm around his hip.

"Why do you make a game out of evading security?"

"I just, sometimes, I need to know I am in control"

"You will always be in control. When we mate, we are not two, we will be one. Always try and include me, so I know where to find you or take you anywhere you want," said Magnor.

"What if I want to go on a bike ride?"

"We will go"

"What if I want a bike of my own"

"Then we will go in two"

"What If I crave the streetshop ice cream from Uliel at night?"

"Then we will go and have it"

"So much dedication to job"

"We won't be doing it because its my job. We will be doing it because you are my omega, my mate," said Magnor.

"I thought you wouldn't come"

"How can I not?"

Esben just cuddled closer.

"And you are not too much. I like you the way you are," said Magnor.

Esben preened at that.

"I am the most perfect omega in the whole damn wide world," said Esben.

"I have no doubt," said Magnor and kissed him. Esben kissed back like his life depended on it.

"Your uncles will kill me if I defiled their  child on their watch," said Magnor. Esben sniggered.

"That they will, Alpha. You better not defile me. Just kiss me, a lot," said Esben, kissing Magnor's nape.

Magnor looked at Esben as he climbed on top of him, pulling him even closer.

It was a cry that alerted Arkyn. He rushed down and saw Isak on his way too. They got to the yard and saw their Ivor in the grass with the guards surrounding him.

"My baby," screamed Isak as soon as he saw the blood. Their children were all crying. Arkyn gathered his son in his arms and rushed to the car. Isak came in after him. The children were in Papa and Baba's safe hands.

"It hurts Baba," mumbled Ivor clinging to him.

"We will get to the hospital now baby," mumbled Isak.

"Papa"

"What happened and go fast," snapped Arkyn.

"They were playing atop stools. We were watching but master Ivor slipped," said Klaus.

Arkyn got their kid into the ER. They were asked to wait outside. Isak clung to him.

"Sweet heart, he will be fine,"  said Arkyn holding him close.

"I was not keeping an eye. I should have," sobbed Isak.

"Its not your fault love, if anything, I should also be blamed. Come, let's sit here," said Arkyn and made him sit. The nurse came out.

"Your highness, Prince Ivor is fine. His wounds are getting wrapped. We will need to do some scans just to make sure there are no fractures. The bleeding has stopped," said the nurse.

"Thank you," said Isak and they followed the nurse as instructed.

"He is asleep. Its an injection to keep pain away," said the doctor and all Arkyn could see was his baby looked small in the hospital bed. They accompanied him to all tests  which were mostly X-ray and a scan.

He woke up much later when they were in the VVIP ward. Arkyn changed his shirt since the earlier one had blood and he didn't want his baby to wake up to that.

"Isa, have a coffee, here," he gently guided a cup into his hand. Isa has calmed down somewhat.

"Papa"

"You are awake, my baby. How are you feeling?" asked Isak.

"Feels Ouchie"

"It will be gone before you know it," said Arkyn, tucking in Ivor's favourite toy.

"Baba, carry," said Ivor.

Arkyn picked him up, gently rocking him as he carried him. The scan and X-rays had come up good much to their relief.

"Are you feeling better?"

"Ice cream please"

"Which one?"

"My fav"

Isak looked lost.

"I am terrible. I can't remember-

"Isa, its okay-

"Stawberrie, papa"

Isak watched as Ivor slept in Arkyn's shoulder . Having had his softie instead of ice cream and some soup, he settled into sleep  again.

"We should spend time with our children individually," said Isak.

"How?"

"We take each of them out on their own on various days so that they get to spend time with us as individuals. Even if its at home, we should do it- couple of special hours," said Isak.

"Okay, we will do that. Stop crying," said Arkyn.

"There was a time you enjoyed seeing me cry," snapped Isak and he doesn't know where that came from.

"I am sorry- started

"Don't apologise. Our past is a truth. We can't ignore it. But don't stress yourself so much," said Arkyn, pulling him close.

Once they got home next morning, Isak's parents took over and sent them both off to sleep for a while. They bathed and let their other four join them in bed for their comfort as they rested.

"Bro will be fine?" asked Aros, lips wobbling.

"Yes. He is good. It will go away," said Arkyn.

The children fell asleep soon after.

"Arkyn, alpha, I wanted to properly apologise. We both are working towards forgiving what happened and put it behind us. And I just threw it at your face. No excuse is good enough for that. I am sorry," said Isak reaching out and taking his hand.

"It was our truth. Although, I - I didn't really want you to cry. It was complex. Too many emotions muddled my brain back then. I will not justify myself. It is what it is. I abused you and if I can't stand and own up to all that I did, I don't deserve this second chance," said Arkyn. Isak leaned and placed a chaste kiss on his husband's lips.
