Clay POV.

All 6 of us tributes knew what was going to happen. Unlike most days we sat together at lunch, quietly whispering things to each other to make sure we were all on the same page about what we needed to do.

Nick pointed out the 2 avoxes who were going to help us escape, both of whom were sent to clean the rooms we were kept in. Every day they'd bring in a parcel of new clothes to wear the next day, and today the parcels were significantly bigger, which we all assumed meant there was the peacekeeper armor inside.

When they started walking out I actually got a good look at them and saw that they were quite familiar looking to George. The male avox had the same messy brown hair and smile, while the female avox shared her son's eyes and pale skin. It was like looking into a mirror.

I finally got to meet all of the tributes officially. Fundy, was a redhead from District 6, the transport district, he was going to be responsible for driving the train that gets us out of here. Charlie was a boy from District 10, he knew about a bunch of different animals and how to care for them, and even how to kill them in a cruelty free way. Apparently he lived on a farm on the edge of his District which was mainly for pigs.

The other 2 I knew a little about. Karl was from District 7, the lumber District. He looked a lot different to other people from that District but he claims it's because his family ran a paper making factory. The Other boy was Alex, from District 9, which is the smallest district. District 9 is responsible for grain and so he has experience making bread from it out of almost nothing, which could be quite useful.

We had planned to hide in District 12, which could mean we were all useful. Fundy could get us there, Charlie could keep control of any animals, Alex could grow stuff, and Nick and I could fish. I hoped that we could have George with us too. He could give us power. The 6 of us, plus our families could start a new civilization.

They sent us each to our rooms and we waited there for several hours, for the lights to come back on, the camera's to go off, and the doors to open. I sat on the edge of the bed, with the parcel in between my feet, watching the red light on the camera flicking on and off in the dark room.

On. Off. On. Off. On. Off... still off.

I realised what that meant. A few minutes later the lights flickered on and the click of the electronic bolt in the door sounded. Immediately I stood up and put the parcel of clothes onto the bed.

It opened to reveal a folded up peacekeeper uniform, as well as a handgun, ammo, and some boots, which I pulled on as quickly as I could. Then I walked over to the door and easily pushed it open.

To my left and right as well as opposite me stood 5 other peacekeepers. All of us had handguns and looked around examining each other. We didn't stay like that for long since we needed to go and all began running towards the door.

Richard POV.

"Avox, go get me a drink." the peacekeeper watching the cameras growled at me, barely sending me a glance over his shoulder. But I still bowed respectfully before sending a small smile at my wife and leaving the room.

It was 9pm, and I rushed down the hall, almost breaking into a sprint as I walked between gamemakers, peacekeepers, and citadel workers as I headed to the closest kitchen. There was already a pot of steaming hot coffee which I poured into a cup. There were several other peacekeepers in the room so I kept my head down to avoid eye contact.

When I picked up the steaming cup I walked back into the hallway, with the cup in one hand and a teaspoon in the other. I glanced quickly around to see if anyone was coming before subtly putting in a sleeping pill. My eyes stayed focused on the pill until the little white oblong thing had dissolved amongst the steaming liquid.

Then I continued walking into the security office and placed the coffee in front of the peacekeeper. "Took you long enough," he grumbled, and I mouthed an apology before walking to stand in the corner to see if he needed anything else.

Being an avox was terrible, especially when my son George got sent into the arena. I couldn't even say goodbye, just having to sit back and watch with my wife Ashley. It was terrible. Our eyes stayed focused on the peacekeeper as he drank the steaming coffee.

We had our fingers crossed that it would work. 5 minutes passed, then 10, before he let out a yawn and slumped forward. Ashley and I gave each other a smirk as we moved over to his seat and pulled him on the chair over to the corner and tied him up with some cords.

My wife and I then ran over to the TVs. 6 screens were up, all of which showed one of the captured tributes. Immediately we began attempting to hack into the computers, and after a few moments the cameras switched off, before flicking back on with a bit of static.

All of the tributes had been watching the camera's, and looked surprised when it finally went off, followed by the lights in their rooms coming on. We watched and began working on opening the doors as they pulled on all of the peacekeeper uniforms.

While they got dressed we continued to hack and after a while a loud ring sounded throughout the room. It should have had enough power to fry the circuits of the trackers in the tributes arms, which would make us untracable.

They all finished pulling on their uniforms around the same time and opened the doors. The 6 of them assembled in the hallway and gave each other a look before heading over to the doors we were opening.

Once the doors had opened we began running to meet them.
