Rose did call him the next day, it was a short call and she simply told him it was a misunderstanding before making up an excuse to go.

It had been a week and the two had stopped calling, something still felt weird between them and they couldn't figure it out and they didn't talk about it. Rose filled her time by talking to Tubbo more, leaving Tommy confused as to why he was jealous.

Tommy had just started getting ready to go hang out with some mates from college when his phone rang. As soon as he saw who it was he answered immediately.

"Rose?"

"Tommy I-" her voice was shaky as if she were crying, "I know we're not really talking much now, I don't even know why, but I- I tried calling Tubbo but he's sleeping and my dads asleep and- and you're the only person who- Tommy I'm so sorry."

"Rose calm down, take a deep breath. It's okay." If he was honest it did hurt a bit that she was only calling him because Tubbo had fallen asleep, "What's going on?" In response he heard a quiet sob on the other side of the phone. His heart hurt to see his best friend hurting and he couldn't help in any way.

"Hey, Rose, take you time, deep breaths okay?" He couldn't see her nod, but he could hear her begin to take shaky breaths until she calmed down.

"I um, it's so stupid god! I had a dream-" she started, sniffling every few words, "my mom- she was still uhm still alive and we were just eating dinner, the four of us, happy and smiling and she turns to me a-and she said, she said that I could've helped her and- and I didn't. I couldn't help her Tommy. It's my fault she's gone-"

"Rose." His firm voice stopped her rambling as a steady stream of tears fell down her face. "It's not your fault. There was nothing you could do. You were 14, there was nothing you could do." He was kind of glad that Tubbo once let it slip that her mom passed away due to cancer, otherwise he would be hearing about this for the first time.

"I just- I miss her so much, and Max barely remembers her."

"I know you miss her but- you know, she'd be so proud of you." She sniffled listening to his kind words, "I can guarantee that she's telling all the other angels about how proud of you she is, she's probably saying look! That girl? She may be ginger but she's so smart! She's super funny, always making people laugh, and not only that, but she's makes other people feel so special, just look at her! She's making friends across the world! I bet none of your kids are doing that." She laughed lightly, making his heart beat faster. They're silent for a few moments.

"Will you stay on the phone with me?" She whispers.

"Of course." He pressed the button to switch to FaceTime, "switch to FaceTime so I can see your face." She groaned but complied, it was dark in her room but the bright light from her phone lit her tear stained face.

"Oh lord I look like death-"

"Nah, you're a pretty crier. Makes up for being ginger." She rolls her eyes and lays down, making sure her phone is plugged in. "I'll be right here when you wake up okay?" She nodded, closing her eyes.

"Thank you Tommy- for everything." He simply smiled as she dozed off into a peaceful sleep. It was comforting to have someone there, even if he wasn't there physically.
