After the admiral announced the mission 2 days ago, today is the day it will commence. 5 ship girls were chosen to participate: Enterprise, Hornet, Iowa, Helena, and Fletcher with Enterprise being the flagship.
JOHN'S POV
John: So here's our objective, the carriers will launch all the planes to take pictures of the atoll while the others will provide protection when the carriers are vulnerable
Just after I said that Hornet asked.
Hornet: Admiral, why do we need to launch all our aircrafts? If it's just a photo recon mission then we surely won't need all of them
John: Here's the reason
I zoomed in on the picture showing the atoll.
John: A spy plane captured this picture before going down. Focusing on this part, those things look suspiciously similar to the air defense system on the modern destroyers and those can shoot down flying missiles no problem. Your planes are much smaller than those so they probably won't be destroyed that easily but the possibility is still there so we better play it safe
At the start of the war, the Navy staged a mock attack using the ship girl's aircraft on a US destroyer which wasn't informed beforehand. The "attack" was successful since the radar mistook the planes for birds so the air defense system didn't take any actions. As a result, the torpedo bombers were able to score 10 "hits" on the destroyers.
Hornet: I see
John: So, any other question?
The rest: No sir!
John: Then, godspeed everyone
30 MINUTES LATER
LOCATION: MIDWAY ATOLL, SAND ISLAND
PRINCY'S POV
I was sitting on top of a large rock looking at the sea.
This feels nice...
After the cube thing fused with me, my body has changed. The black spikes growing from my neck disappeared, the same thing happened to the red veins on my body. My nails shortened and looked more like human nails than the sharp claws before. My riggings also changed from a monster-like form to a more ship girl-like one along with the ability to sail like them. As a result, Midway spent the whole yesterday teaching me how to sail on the water and utilize my weapons to their fullest capability.
I've got to thank him later...

Midway: How's the view up there?
He jumped up and sat next to me.
Midway: Oh, this is nice
It is...
