I'd been calling Stephen for the past couple of days but no answer. Walking into my office building, I greet everyone grabbing my mail from the new assistant. That's right. That bitch had to go!
"Good Morning Ms. Montez. Here's your mail," I smiled at the young Caucasian girl.
"Thank you, Stacy. Any messages?" I asked her going through my mail.
"Umm no but someone called twice asking for you and when I told them you were not in, they just hung up when I asked who was calling." She fiddled with her fingers looking nervous. She was a young girl fresh out of high school. She was only nervous around me for some reason. In front of clients and other partners About nineteen.
"Okay Thank you," I responded about to walk into my office until something on her little desk radio tweaked my ear.
" A man by the name of Brian Jean, around his early 30s has been reported missing for about a week and..."
I walked into my office turning on the news on my computer, turning it up.
"Brian, baby if you're out there just let me know you are safe. The kids and I are worried sick!" The white woman cried hysterically as the press continued to flash pictures. He has kids?
I closed the tab grabbing my cell phone and calling Brian's phone until it went right to voicemail.
"Damn," Was the only thing that slipped from my mouth. I scrolled down pressing Stephen's contact again but just like Brian, straight to voicemail.
I shook my head looking over a couple of files. Was it me? Was I the problem why men just keep running away?
My phone began ringing with Rachelle's face across it pulling me from my thoughts.
"Hello?" I answered enthusiastically putting it on speaker.
"Hey girl!" She cheerfully responded on the other end of the phone.
"It's too early for you to be this loud 'Chelle" I side-eyed her through the FaceTime call giving her my full undivided attention.
"Damn, Goodmorning to you too."
"Goodmorning. Wassup?" I sat back in my desk chair.
"Girl, what you doing tonight?" She walked around what I assumed was her house.
"Mmm, probably a glass of wine. Why?"
"Well," She trailed off dragging out her favor without asking yet.
"Oh boy!" I groaned throwing my head back.
"Chill! I'm just asking because you know that guy Damon I'm seeing right now?"
"Busted chin?" I raised my eyebrow.
"...Yes." She looked at me with a serious face.
I snickered. "Ight, Ight I'm joking but yea what about him?"
"Well... his friend was asking about you!" She returned back to her cheery energy.
"First off, how does he know who I am?" I squinted my eyes at her before she nervously shift her eyes.
"Umm, I may have shown him your picture..s" She smiled switching her eyes back and forth nervously. She knew how I felt about that shit. Especially because these niggas be creeps. Big Creeps!
