Welcome to 'Grand Soulèvement'
do you have a reservation?" The hostess smiled up at me."Yes, Montez," I responded as she examined the appointment book.
"Yes, Ms. Montez right his way. Your other party is already here."
Walking up to a table with a beautiful view of the city, Rachelle sat at the table sipping her mimosa.
"Hey, girl how are you." She greeted me with excitement as we hugged and pecked each other's cheeks.
I sat down sitting my sunglasses on top of my hair.
The hostess sat down a brochure-like menu with today's specials then walking away.
"So miss girl where have you been these past few weeks? You've missed the last two brunches." Rachelle crossed her arms giving me a fake attitude.
"Sorry I've been a little occupied." I smiled up at the hostess bringing me a mimosa before ending our waiter over.
"Occupied with what?"
I hesitated on telling Rachelle about Ace. I've enjoyed Ace's company these past few months but I didn't know if there was anything else more to that.
"Wait a minute...YOU'VE been spending time with that boy."
I opened my mouth to respond but nothing came out. Sipping my drink, I hear Rachelle gasp.
"Oh my gosh! You like him."
"No I don't—-"
"Yes, you do. I know that look in your eye." She raised her eyebrow as the waiter came just in time to take our orders.

After telling Rachelle about Ace and me, she simply shook her head.
"I think you're having a mid-life crisis and you took my advice too literally. When I said the next guy I didn't mean your one-night stand from the club."
I Rolled my eyes fixing my hair.
"Just think what your colleagues will say with you rolling up with 'Ace' on your arm."
I knew she was right. In the type of profession I'm in, everything You do matters. I'm already a black woman in a law firm so I have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously.
"Rachelle I like him. He takes his time with me, he understands me..."
"You sure it's not just the dick? I get it I've been there before but let that fun go. It was fun while it lasted but,"
I knew she was right. What did I think would happen with Ace and me? My phone began to ring when I pulled it out.
Speak of the devil. I hit the ignore button while sliding my phone back into my purse. Rachelle was right. We've had our fun.
