His eyes fluttered open and he was welcomed by a stunning sight. Will was facing his alpha, Hannibal's arms draped over Will to hold him close and protectively. Alphas loved protecting their mates and were always on alert in case they would need to. Will stared at the sleeping face of his mate. It was nice waking up right next to Hannibal. It had been something he had been getting used to recently.
It felt like home. Hannibal's arms all over him and their bodies pressed so close, it all made Will's heart warm up. Will knew it would be difficult to get used to waking up and Hannibal was not there. They already had a strong bond - it would be destructive for both of them to be a part now that they have become closer.
Although he would have liked to have stayed snuggled up close to his alpha, the universe would not allow it. He unwrapped Hannibal's arms and got out of bed. He sensed the alpha awakening right after.
It had been some time since he had taken Abigail to school. He had told Hannibal he would take care her this morning. He wanted to reassure the alpha wendigo that he was doing it because he missed being with his daughter. Will thought there was no use in telling Hannibal as he left with Abigail.
"Mommy?" Abigail called out after they drove away from Hannibal's home.
Will kept his cerulean eyes on the road. "Yes, Tea- Abigail?" He was about to call her what Hannibal nicknamed her. He could not deny how adorable that nickname was. Hannibal truly cared about Abigail.
Abigail took a moment before opening her mouth. "You love Hannibal a lot, don't you?"
The answer was yes. There was no reluctance if he had to answer the question. Even with the knowledge he had, Will still loved Hannibal. Once, he thought he could never find his soulmate. It was not something his father talked to him about, but Will felt it was impossible. There was so many wendigos in the world (whether you met one or not), Will thought there was no way.
He was okay with that. He had grown accustomed to it just being Abigail and their dogs. Will had no problem with that life. He thought that was all he needed. Then he met Hannibal and as cheesy as it sounded, his world was turned upside down. Will wanted a life with Hannibal in it. He wanted them to be a family. One day, Hannibal and he could give Abigail a sibling.
"I do." Will replied with a soft smile. He turned his head to see Abigail looking at him with a smile.
Abigail turned away with her smile. "He'll be my papa," she said confidently.
Will had to register his daughter's words to realize what she had said.
He'll be my papa.
It had been the words the omega had wanted to hear his daughter say. These were words Hannibal would be ecstatic to hear. He would feel like it was a dream, but he would feel so thrilled. Abigail accepted Hannibal as a fatherly figure.
Abigail wanted Hannibal as her father.
"Abigail...you consider Hannibal as your dad?" Will asked for clarification.
Abigail nodded. "I told him yesterday when he was telling me a story like he does every night. He said that he would love it if I called him that."
Will chuckled softly. It felt like everything was falling perfectly into place. Will was no longer thinking of his concerns with Hannibal being the Ripper. His main focus was that Abigail wanted them all to be a family too.
"The dogs will like him." Abigail stated.
Even though the dogs have not met Hannibal yet, Will believed Abigail was right.
