I was shaken out of these thoughts when I heard a knock on the guest rooms door. I quickly zoned back in and realised I was staring at a beautiful landscape of trees and hills, with horses and a setting sun. I turned my head to see my mother leaning on the door, her hazel eyes alight with both love and happiness as her eyes wandered from me towards the painting, her smile widening at the sight of it. She chuckled slightly and her expression became one of nostalgia.

"What," I asked, confused.

"Nothing, just memories," she sighed as she stared at me happily. I waited for her to elaborate, raising my eyebrow in question.

"Your father and aunt Rebekah decided to have a painting competition, to say that your father won would be an understatement, your aunt refused to talk to him for the next week and if it had not been for marcel's interference then they still wouldn't be on speaking terms, that's the painting he did," my mother said as she jerked her head towards the painting. Before I could reply we heard a haughty sniff from behind us.

"Please, the outcome was completely bias, next time I'm making sure Elijah does not judge," my aunt Rebekah said, before she winced slightly, remembering the terms that my mother and uncle were on. Besides her, my mother's face, that was moments ago filled with amusant and adoration, had now turned expressionless as she merely walked out the room.

It was all my fault. If I had never cloaked my mother, she would never have gotten kidnapped and their relationship would still be flourishing. True, I had never truly wanted them together. In fact I had always wanted my mother to marry my father not my uncle but I never voiced my opinion. I wasn't about to interfere with that train wreck.

My aunt sighed before she turned to me with a sad expression.

"Come on,"she said softly, walking out in the direction of the dining room. As I took a seat at the elaborate dining room table, I watched as the rest of my family piled in. My father and uncle Elijah each sat with an empty seat to the side of them. My mother walked in, and like some typical cliche movie, had to choose to sit between the two. The atmosphere in the room was completely tense as everyone watched as my mother took a seat besides my father and kept her eyes trained on the food in front of her.

Yep, a normal family dinner with the Mikaelsons.
