"10월 26일 2018년"

"October 26, 2018"

October 26, 2018. The day Gyeoul would return to Seoul after visiting her grandmother in Jeonju. The boy woke up to the sound of his phone's notifications.

Nundeongi❄️
I'm in the train, I'll arrive later at noon
Where should we meet this afternoon?

A smile crept on his face as he read her messages, his excitement evident as he typed his reply.

                                                    Bamsaek🌰
                                  How about the café?
Do you want me to pick you up?

Nundeongi❄️
The café sounds good
No need, the café's just near and my apartment's a mess :')

                                                     Bamsaek🌰
                                 Okay, I'll wait for you
                                                    there then

Nundeongi❄️
Okie
See you later!

                                                     Bamsaek🌰
                                                      I love you|
                                                          I love y|
                                                                 I lo|
                                                                     I|
                                                       Take care

It was now afternoon, a gush of wind greeting him as he went to the café. Once he arrived, he went and sat down by the window so he could see her as he texted the girl, soft giggles escaped from his mouth after sending a voice mail to her. The girl who was on her way played the voice mail while the rain poured as he waited for her.

"Yah, where are you? I'm already here! I'm waiting~" He said with a cute tone, making her giggle.

Then, Gyeoul arrived at the street where the café was. She didn't text him that she was already there 'cause she wanted to surprise him. She was on the other side of the street as she saw Beomgyu patiently waiting for her, sitting beside the window, too focused to see her reply as a smile crept on her face. Not noticing a car passing with its brakes broken, she crossed the crosswalk as a loud honk filled the air. He looked outside to see what was going on as his eyes widen, he was shocked to see who it was.

He saw Gyeoul laying down on a pool of blood in front of a car on the crosswalk.

No.

He looked at the window too late.

He stood up and rushed outside to go to her as doubts filled his mind, including guilt, not caring if he got wet by the rain. Tears filled his eyes making his vision blurry.

If only I paid attention, if only I wasn't too focused on my phone, if only I saw her, I could've saved her.

"No, G-gyeoul, wake up, please!" He said as he knelt and carried her, tapping her cheek, his clothes were filling with blood. "Gyeoul, wake up!"

"Please help me!" "Someone please call 119!"

"Gyeoul, please open your eyes." He said as tears fell from his eyes. "I'm here."

"Don't leave me." He said as he hugged her lifeless, cold body.

"I love you."

An ambulance finally arrived but it was too late.

She's dead.

His eyes filled with tears as he remembered what had happened.

She died four years ago.

Then he realized the months he spent with her were all just a dream. A dream that just felt so real.

That should've happened if only I saw her.

"You always blame yourself, you shouldn't blame yourself for something you didn't do."

Remembering her scolding from his dream made him chuckle as he wiped his tears.

But it was my fault, I could've saved you.
